My FBI story began back in 1987 when I was working with the Department of Navy, Reserve Intelligence Unit on Andrew’s AFB, as a Security Officer. The job was very intense and often time busy. The only problem with it was the pay grade. So much work for very little pay; and I was required to work on some weekends.

This was during the Gulf War (August 28, 1990 – February 28, 1991) was a conflict between Iraq and a coalition force of approximately 30 nations led by the United States and mandated by the United Nations to liberate the nation of Kuwait. US reservists were being deployed and needed to be cleared for duty. My job was to collect SBI documentation, and fingerprints to be submitted to the FBI for security clearances.

Thus began my relationship with the Agency. After some time, I heard that there were some openings in The Freedom Of Information Office at the FBIHQ. So I submitted my resume before the closing date. A few months later, I received a letter stating that I was to come for an interview.

Fast forward to the date of the interview, I did not know that I was one of about 50 people being interviewed. I thought…gotta put my best foot forward. No doubts entered the mine; my chances were just as good as any of the other recruits.
The hiring process is very long, so long, I had forgotten. Then one day, six months later, I received a letter stating that I had been hired. That when I had to begin revealing information on every member of my family and myself going back fifteen years.

Oh boy, was that a significant task. However, I got it done.
The investigation took about a month, and then I had to take a polygraph test. No cardio, sweating, or breathing reactions. The polygraph examiner asked so many questions, I got tired, and there was a little reaction to a carefully devised question. Finally, the examiner said that I didn’t fail, but asked why the response in the end? I said I got tired of you asking me the same questions over and over again.

This is not the end of my story..it is just the beginning, however not right now.
