Waiting To Exhale: My Journey To Breathing!

Waiting To Exhale
Public domain

In the movie Waiting to Exhale, four women find friends, love, and support as they search for happiness in their lives.

I found all those things in my life when I discovered the power of my breath and the strength of my voice.

This journey hasn’t been easy at times. It’s been filled with many twists and turns, ups and downs, lefts and rights.

It’s taken me to places within myself that weren’t always comfortable or even safe.

But it was so worth it…and continues to be so every day. In this blog post, you will learn more about who I am, what I do, and why it’s important to live your best life today.

A Short Bio About Me

Before we get started, let’s get to know each other. I am originally from sweet home, Alabama; however, I’ve been living on the east coast!

What’s more, I’m passionate about encouraging people to take action to experience the life they desire. I help them do this by showing them that they have the power to create change in their lives.

I do this via blogging.

Why Is Exhaling Important for me?

Simply put, the world we live in is nothing short of stressful. So, I need to take a deep breath now and then, especially when stressed out or feeling overwhelmed.

Why?…inhaling and exhaling are one of the most simple and effective ways to relax the mind and body.

Not to mention, allowing myself to breathe properly helps reduce stress, ease tension, and promote a sense of calmness and well-being.

So, give it a try…inhale slowly and deeply through your nose, then exhale fully through your mouth.

And try to do this for a few minutes each day, and you’ll start to feel the calming effects.

How I Use My Breath To Live My Best Life!

Having a regular practice of taking deep, intentional breaths is so important to me. Because it helps me stay open to ideas and solutions when I feel stuck, it helps me enjoy the journey when I’m impatient for results.

Breathe and the World Breathes with You.” –Unknown

Also, when I hit bumps in the road, it helps me stay positive and excited for what’s next and be kind and forgiving with myself when I’m not getting everything right.

At the same time, it helps me stay focused and productive when I need to get stuff done; It helps me take breaks when I need them; and stay in the moment when I’m easily distracted.

How Speaking Out Helps Me Live My Best Life!

Speaking out about important issues is a powerful way to create change in the world.

And research shows that people are more likely to follow you if they know what your values and beliefs stand for, not just from words but also through actions – so take some time today (or tomorrow) on this subject matter, which means something personal enough to make an impact…

Writing is another way that I show up for myself and others. It’s another way that I live my values.

It’s another way that I use my voice to create change in the world. It has been such a powerful tool for me to find my voice and create the life I want truly.

It has shown me that you don’t need to be a published author to have a voice. You don’t need to be famous or have thousands of followers to impact the world.

In addition, writing helps me see the struggles I’ve overcome as opportunities to become even more confident and empowered.

And it allows me to see that my challenges make me a better person and that my struggles make me stronger.

Summing It Up…Waiting to exhale!

There are so many benefits to fully exhaling and then breathing in again. You can use your breath to live your best lives in many ways.

Besides, there are many ways to use our voices to create change in the world; we can share our truths, gratitude, and hearts with the world.

“The tongue can paint what the eyes can’t see.” –Chinese Proverb

Finally, there are so many ways that we can be heard and seen…to stand up for ourselves. There are many ways we can be the change in the world. (All it takes is an effort and a desire!)

Words mean more than what is set down on paper. It takes the human voice to infuse them with deeper meaning” –Maya Angelou

You can't save a person from themselves.

You Can’t Save A Person From Themselves…So Don’t Try!

You can't save a person from themselves.
Crystal clear blue water where you can see the rocks below in beautiful lake Tahoe California

You can’t save a person from themselves. Despite everything, stepping away from someone you care about takes tremendous strength. (I learned this some time ago!)

In the same manner, it’s difficult to ignore their pleading, crying texts or the desperate voicemails they leave you.

Therefore, when you decide whether you’re willing to sacrifice your happiness for theirs… that’s when real courage comes into play.

Moreover, the hardest part about being an amazing friend is knowing when someone isn’t good for you.

Then again, the second hardest part is stepping away from them, cutting off contact, and limiting how often you see them – even if it breaks your heart to do it.

You might think it is worth staying friends with someone toxic towards you in the past. But, what’s gained from this?

Especially if they keep repeating old mistakes and adding salt to fresh wounds- cutting them out of your life will help stop these cycles from repeating themselves!

The pain may come now, but as time goes by, that should fade into an end to any toxicity forever – which amounts to winning a Golden Ticket!!

You’re a Human Being, Not a Tampon!

Remember that you are your person. You deserve to be treated like a human being, not a sponge used to mop up someone’s tears.

Also, if you’re constantly being sucked dry by someone demanding all of your attention, needing you to be there for them, and constantly needing you to fix their problems…then you need to ask yourself: Are you a human being or a tampon?

It’s important to draw boundaries and clarify that you aren’t there for someone to use and abuse. After all, you aren’t a sponge for them to mop up their tears, and you aren’t a Band-Aid to fix their problems.

You’re a person, and you deserve to be treated like one and with respect. You deserve not to have to clean up someone else’s messes. Nor do you deserve to mop up someone else’s tears and have them drain you dry in the process.

You can't save a person from themselves.

Don’t Try to Save Someone Who Doesn’t Want to Be Saved.

In any case, you can’t save someone who doesn’t want to be saved, and you certainly can’t fix their problems or heal their broken hearts if they don’t want to be fixed or healed.

In like manner, it’s unfair to you; it’s unfair to them and your relationship with them. Because toxic friendships often come with unhealthy expectations.

Such as, a toxic friend might expect you to know what to say and how to fix their problems when you have no idea what to say or how to fix their issues.

That’s why you need to nip it in the bud ASAP. A toxic friend might expect you to be there for them when you don’t want to be around them or when you’re busy doing something else.

Let’s be honest: You might feel like you must constantly talk to them and be there for them when they’re constantly being hurtful.

You might even feel like you have to listen to them whine about their problems when they’re the ones who created those problems. But you don’t have to!

 Bottom line…

The one thing you can’t save someone from is themselves. So, don’t even try to!

In the meantime, letting go of toxic friendships is important because you can’t control someone else’s actions or thoughts. You can only control your own!

When you walk away from someone who isn’t good for you, sometimes you have to decide to focus on those who enrich your life.

In short, it’s important to know when to end a toxic friendship so you can free up your time and energy for healthier relationships and friendships.

Unclaimed Person:Heart-Rending Story! (Part 1)

unclaimed persons
pauper’s graves.

Unclaimed person…according to the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs.gov),  there are more than 14,172  in the United States.

At its core, the problem is that when someone dies without any known next of kin, at that point, they become what is known as an unclaimed person.

While this may seem like a small number, it is important to remember that each one of these people was somebody’s son or daughter, brother or sister, mother or father;

They were somebody’s friend or coworker, or neighbors. And now they are gone, without anybody to claim them.

  It’s a very sad reality.

Unclaimed persons
Unclaimed person graves

Many were impoverished or homeless, and their bodies were held in morgues or cremated without anyone ever knowing they were deceased.

Subsequently, this is a tragedy because the unclaimed individuals, their families, and friends will never know what happened to them.

These unclaimed persons often go unclaimed for years, and their bodies are usually cremated or buried in pauper’s graves.

It’s a sad reality, but it often happens in the United States. Each year, thousands of people die without any known next of kin, and their bodies go unclaimed.

Likewise, some of these people are never identified, and their deaths go unnoticed. (They are forgotten.)

Furthermore, if you have lost a loved one and don’t know what happened to them, there’s a good chance they may be one of the 40,000 unclaimed persons in the United States.

This is a subject close at heart because a brother of mine was found deceased behind a building in 2021.

Luckily, he was known and identified, and we claimed his body from the coroner’s office.

That said…these people were somebody…and should not be forgotten!

Conclusion

The heart-wrenching story of the unclaimed person in the United States is a story that needs to be told. Every year, thousands of people die in the United States without ever being claimed by a family member or friend.

These unclaimed bodies often end up in pauper’s graves, with no one to remember them or mourn their loss.

This story is a reminder of the importance of human connection and the value of every life.

This story is a reminder that we all need to take the time to connect with our loved ones and let them know how much they mean to us.

Authentically speaking

Authentically Speaking…Who Am I?

Authentically speaking

Authentically speaking…who am I? How often do we ask this question ourselves? If you’re reading this article right now, it means that somewhere in your heart, you want to know the answer.

Who am I is a fundamental question that we must explore on a personal level? We all have those moments when we ask about who we are or what our purpose in life is?

So many people live with a hidden identity, afraid to come out of the shadows for fear of being judged by others or even losing friends or family members.

But why should anyone judge us for who we are and how we identify? We all have different facets to our personalities, but that doesn’t make us less than individuals.

More importantly, it makes us more interesting as people because everyone has unique qualities and attributes.

Take someone like Prince, for example; he was known as one of the greatest musicians of his time due to his ability to articulate his singing voice in such an amazing way that left everyone speechless!

So…who do you think helped him hone those talents? It certainly wasn’t anyone judging him for who he was and how he identified as a musician at the time!

Those negative individuals will always be waiting to knock you off balance, but they don’t define you—who you are do not matter!

Authentically speaking

Who Are You? Knowing And Understanding The Real You!

The first step towards understanding who you are is knowing your authentic self. The authentic self is the real you.

It is who you are without any pretense or any deception.

Also, its’ what you show to the world without any defense mechanisms or protective shields.

The way to understand your authentic self is, to be honest with yourself. You must know what you feel inside, even if you fear the consequences of being honest.

In like manner, you have to go beyond the superficial level at which most people operate; by looking beneath the surface and exploring the hidden parts of your personality that you don’t let the world see.

And you have to go beyond…

  1. What your rational mind tells you.
  2. You have to go beyond the limits of your intellectual knowledge.
  3. And beyond what you think you know about yourself.

Being Authentic Is The Only Way To Live!Authentically speaking

In the end, living authentically really isn’t that hard. Whats’ equally important is letting go of the need to

  1. impress others;
  2. not being afraid of vulnerability,
  3. embracing your inner child,
  4.  be honest about who you are,
  5. and follow your heart.

Of course, there will be times when you make mistakes, but that’s part of the human experience. Mistakes are how we learn and grow.

So let go of the need to impress others and just be yourself. (Authentic self) It’s about exploring your true motivations, desires, and needs.

By the same token, let go of the need to be perfect and make mistakes…learn from them.

5 Steps To Discovering Your Authentic Self!

The first step to discovering our false self; is the part of you trying to please others by fitting into their expectations; or trying to fit into a certain group or social identity.

Once you become aware of the

you can move away from it and towards your authentic self.

The second step is to become aware of the true self…is your authentic self. It is who you are without any artifice and to the world without any pretense.

The third step is to start to express your true self more. Showing the world your authentic self. You do this by becoming more authentic in your speech and actions.

You become more real and less fake. You let others see the real you.

The fourth step is to stop comparing yourself to others. Another way to create a false self is to fit into a certain group or social identity.

The fifth step is to let go of your ego. The ego is your false self. You have to let it go and become less self-centered.

Conclusion

At the end of the day, who you are doesn’t matter as much as who you want to become.

Those negative individuals will always be waiting to knock you off balance, but remember that they don’t define you—who you are does not matter!

So come on, if you have been hiding behind a facade for fear of being judged, it’s time to come out of the shadows and into the light where everyone can see the real you!

Acrimonious Words: In The English Language!

Acrimonious Words

Acrimonious Words filled the English language begging to be used in an argument; many of these words are associated with negative emotions, such as anger, hatred, and hostility.

Nonetheless, these words are often used in everyday speech to express our frustration and have the potential to start arguments and incite strong emotions.

Anyway…

The Oxford English Dictionary defines acrimonious as “stinging, sharp, or bitter in speech or temper.”

In other words, these are words that are bound to start an argument.

That said…here are a few of the most acrimonious words in the English language…

1. Feminist

Most often, the word feminist describes an angry, militant, man-hating…Female. But the truth is, being a feminist means believing in equality regardless of gender.

So if you believe in equality, congratulations! You’re a feminist! (And there’s nothing wrong with that!)

In fact, it’s something to be proud of.

2. Sniveling

The English language is full of words begging to be used scathingly. “Sniveling” is one of those words.

It’s perfect for describing someone who is always complaining and moaning. And it’s just the right amount of meanness to use when trying to be passive-aggressive.

So next time someone gets on your nerves, tell them to stop being such a sniveling little bellyacher!

Then again…it’s the perfect modus operandi to let them know you’re fed up with their crap and calling out their bullshit!

3. Boorish

Unfortunately, boorishness is the state of being rude, insulting, and offensive

In essence, it’s the quality of being a bad-tempered individual; it’s something that no one wants to be accused of.

Remember, it’s probably not a compliment if you’re called boorish. And it’s definitely not something you want to be known for.

So if you want to avoid being called boorish, here are a few things you should do:

-Be polite and respectful to others

-Avoid making crude jokes or comments

-keep your temper in check

-Don’t be a know-it-all

Following these tips, you can avoid being boorish and ensure you’re always on your best behavior!!!

4. Rancorous

Now…if you’re looking for a word to describe someone who is always angry and full of resentment, then the perfect word for you is “rancorous.”

The word comes from the Latin word for “rancor,” which means “bitterness or “hatred.”

When you describe someone as rancorous, you say they are characterized by bitterness and anger.

Generally speaking, rancorous people are usually pretty unreasonable. They can’t see their faults, and they tend to hold grudges.

And so, If you’re feeling rancorous, you probably hate the person you’re mad at.

So, the next time you want to describe someone as being angry and resentful, go ahead and use the word rancorous.

They’ll be sure to get the message!”

Or

In the meantime, if you’re feeling rancorous, take a step back and see the situation from the other person’s perspective.

You might find that your anger is misplaced!

5. Jihad

Jihad is often considered a holy war by Muslims against infidels. But the word has a much broader meaning.

Jihad can be defined as a “struggle.” It is a struggle to live a good life, do what is right, and resist temptation.

Muslims are not the only ones who wage jihad. Everyone struggles against something in their life.

For some, it is a struggle to quit smoking or to lose weight. For others, it is a struggle to overcome depression or to keep their faith.

No matter what your jihad is, remember that you are not alone. We all have struggles in our lives.

But by working hard and staying focused, we can overcome anything.

6. Terrorism (speaks for itself!)

Terrorism is a serious problem that often ends in violence and death. But it can also be a source of amusement, depending on how you view it.

For example, consider the word “terrorism.” It’s a pretty acrimonious word, but it’s also funny when you think about it in this sense…

The Universe says, “Hey, I can be random and unpredictable, but I can also be really scary and dangerous.”

So next time you’re feeling down about the state of the world, remember that even the Universe has a sense of humor.

And who knows, maybe one day we’ll all look back on this dark prehistory and laugh about it.

7. “Invective

In contrast, Invective is a word that describes a speech or writing that is full of harsh, insulting, and abusive language.

Also, it is a harsh or bitter personal attack directed toward a particular person or group; it can be seen as a form of bullying, and it’s not the best way to win an argument.

But sometimes, it can be very satisfying to let loose with a good dose of abuse in the heat of the moment.

On the other hand, it’s the perfect word to describe that angry email you just wrote to your boss.

Anyway…Invective can be used as a noun or an adjective, and it’s sure to make your listener’s hair stand on end.

A word of caution… be prepared for the consequences!

Conclusion

All things considered, acrimonious is a synonym for

The wording in the English language is a great way to end an argument, not to mention there are many words related to acrimonious such as…

These words guarantee you’ll never win an argument; if you’re looking for a way to annoy someone, try using all ten of them in a single sentence.

Meanwhile, if you want to stay on good terms with your friends and family, it’s best to avoid them.
