The Vanity of Mind and the Blindness of Heart!

vanity of mind

The human mind can think and reason, which is why it remains one of the most powerful tools we have as human beings.

It allows us to understand other people, analyze situations, and make informed decisions.

Our minds are a source of strength and courage when dealing with problems because it helps us find solutions.

It’s also our hearts that give meaning to our existence as humans.

The human heart is where our emotions reside. It’s where love is found, fear lurks, and joy springs from. A good heart is kind and compassionate, while a bad one can be evil.

To keep your mind from becoming vain and your heart from growing blind, here are some insights into the vanity of mind and blindness of heart that you might find useful in your journey towards self-discovery.

The Vanity of Mind

The vanity of the mind is the tendency of the mind to be self-centered or focused on the self instead of others.

It’s not uncommon for human beings to be a little vain, but when that vanity grows to an unhealthy extent, it becomes a problem.

There are different types of vanity, and each manifests differently:

Narcissism – This form of vanity is often characterized as excessive admiration of one’s own physical or intellectual appearance or a strong desire to be recognized and admired.

Dandies – A dandy is a man who dresses to stand out and be noticed, often flamboyantly.

Dandies may be vain because they are more concerned with impressing other people with their appearance than with the quality of their clothing.

Hubris – This is often referred to as “pride before a fall” and is a form of arrogance and haughtiness that grows out of extreme self-confidence, especially in one’s ability to do something.

When hubris goes unchecked, it can lead to self-delusion, denial, and extreme narcissism.

The Blindness of Heart

Dollars and heart

The blindness of the heart is the inability to feel others’ emotions or the inability to be compassionate towards others.

It may stem from a traumatic childhood or a lack of exposure to the world and its diversity. Being heartless may make it easier to function in today’s society.

The constant bombardment of negative news and feelings makes it hard to be positive. It’s important not to fall into the blindness of the heart because when you close your heart, you become a lesser (or worst) version of yourself.

Bad things can happen if you don’t learn to feel. You may hurt people without knowing it, and you might miss out on great opportunities in life.

Seeing What Is Not!

vanity of mind

Vanity is a chronic disease that affects the mind.

It’s when people project their thoughts and feelings onto someone else, not realizing what they see in front of them isn’t there – this can happen even though you spend time with somebody who only sees your reflection through eyes identical to yours!

Vanity grows its roots deep into our souls, so it becomes hard for anyone trying to fight against their desires sometimes…

The first step towards overcoming prideful traits like these would be taking stock: identifying exactly where such habits come From (specifical self-love) And then remembering

Hearing What is Not Said!

The way you observe your environment is through perception.

The things that are said aloud and those which remain silent carry different weights with them;

Some will be seen as polite, while others may seem rude or uninterestingly vague – but in reality, no one knows what the other person feels until they speak up!

This can lead many people down a wrong path where their vain thoughts come first before anything else…but it’s easy enough to fix if we stop long enough (and listen!)

Feeling What is Not Real!

The feeling that you can’t live without is when a person’s emotions are so focused on one specific thing they start craving it and feel like there would be no life whatsoever without this certain group or reading genre.

This may happen if your friends provide endless positive vibes from their everyday experiences to fuel the flames inside us all too soon!

Constantly Craving Attention and Approval!

If you find yourself constantly craving attention and approval, it could signify that your vanity has taken over.

This often shows up in teenagers who are trying to escape their “terrible two’s” stage by

  • seeking out the praise of others or
  • Being sensitive when they feel criticism is coming towards them, one way around this issue would take your mind away from such thoughts altogether.

Right now, the easiest thing any person could do may seem pretty simple: Stop thinking about other people judging us!

It’s completely irrational for anyone to care what another human thinks, so why spend time dwelling on negative outcomes?

Conclusion!

The vanity of mind and the blindness of heart go hand-in-hand. When one or both of these emotions are unchecked, it can lead to a life of self-delusion.

You may start to see what is not there, hear what is not said, feel what is not real, and crave attention and approval constantly.

When you become aware of these traits, you can easily correct them and become a better person in the process.

The Past…10 Lessons to be Learned from History!

the past

The past is a world of its own. The centuries are filled with secrets, scandals, and stories that have been lost in the annals of time. Fortunately for us, some people are dedicated to unearthing these buried treasures.

History buffs and archaeologists dedicate their lives to unraveling the mysteries of yesteryear. These individuals understand that knowledge of the past is key to understanding our present and planning for our future.

There are many things we can learn from history. Here are ten life-changing lessons to be learned from history:

Don’t live by assumptions!

Assumptions are dangerous. If you rely on your assumptions, you will miss out on discovering the truth. This can lead to horrible consequences.

The truth on the surface often looks fine, but the more you dig into it, the more you realize how messed up it is, which is often ugly.

Still, it’s better than living a lie. It’s easy to fall into assumptions sometimes, but we must be vigilant about not letting them control our lives. Assume nothing; discover the truth for yourself.

However, we often can’t help making assumptions all the time, but sometimes they are incorrect. As a result, we miss important opportunities.

What’s more… don’t just trust your assumptions — challenge them, become curious, and keep an open mind.

Question the wealthy and powerful!

The past is filled with examples of the wealthy and powerful being exposed as frauds and liars. The ancient world was no different. There’s a good chance that the wealthy and powerful individuals you know are lying to you.

They manipulate the media and use their wealth and power to deceive the public. The best way to prevent deception is to question everything you see and hear.

Be wary of consensus!

Throughout history, people have believed all kinds of wrong things. It is better to remain skeptical than to follow a consensus blindly.

It may seem that everyone around you has the same beliefs and opinions as you, but that doesn’t mean their beliefs are true.

The best way to find out the truth is to do your research. There are so many different sources of information today that it is easy to find information that agrees with your views. The key to finding the truth is to look at all sides of an issue.

The Pass…No society is perfect!

That society in which you live might seem perfect to you. However, there is a good chance that its imperfections are just being ignored.

For example, ancient Chinese society has often been praised for its tradition of Xiao, or filial piety, is an attitude of respect for parents and ancestors in societies.

But, An apparent waning  is reflected in China , where officials in some localities have begun requiring contracts of support between elderly parents and their adult children.

Newlyweds in China’s Qindu district, for example, are now required to sign contracts to support their parents after age 60.

Anyway, the best way to identify these flaws and make improvements is to have an open mind and be willing to challenge your preconceived notions.

There is no such thing as progress!

A common misconception about history is that it is a steady march towards progress. There are often periods of regression.

It would be more accurate to describe history as a series of ebbs and flows. There are times when things improve and times when they get worse. There is no such thing as a steady progression towards a better future.

If you rely on progress to save you, you may be in for a rude awakening. It is better to focus on creating positive changes in the here and now.

Learn from cultures with more advanced technology!

the past
Contactless payment with smartwatch technology

It is easy to think that modern societies are superior to past ones. In reality, we have much to learn from the cultures with more advanced technology than we do.

For example, the people of Southeast Asia (particularly Thailand) have been using a form of psychological therapy called “mindfulness” for centuries.

This type of therapy is only just being recognized in the West. If we want to make real progress, we must be open to learning from cultures with more advanced technology and knowledge than our own.

Confidence comes before the fall!

History is filled with examples of societies becoming overconfident and overreaching themselves. For example, the Roman Empire conquered many neighboring lands. As a result, the people of Rome began to think that they were invincible.

They believed that their power would never end. In 410 AD, the Roman Empire was invaded and sacked by barbarians. This marked the beginning of the end of Roman power. The fall of Rome has many lessons for us today.

We should be wary of becoming overconfident and arrogant. We should also be open to new ideas and be willing to change. If we are to set in our ways, it could spell our downfall.

the past
Peace

Stay alert during times of peace!

History has shown that the best time to prepare for war is during times of peace. During times of war, it is impossible to make large-scale changes and improvements. For example, the Mongols were a nomadic people in Central Asia.

They were very effective at raiding and pillaging towns and villages. In 1215 AD, the Mongols signed a treaty with the Chinese, promising to become their allies.

The Mongols became a powerful force for good in China. They built strong defenses and infrastructure that protected China from invaders for many years.

The point here is that even though times may seem peaceful, you must always be ready for war.

Take care of the environment!

The environment has been around since the beginning of time. It has remained largely the same until recently. Humans have been around for 200,000 years.

We have dramatically altered our environment in a very short amount of time. This is dangerous. If we don’t learn from past mistakes, we could destroy ourselves just as many other species have been destroyed.

For example, the bubonic plague was a deadly pandemic that hit Europe in the 14th century. The plague was likely spread by fleas that lived off of rats.

During this time, people did not understand how diseases spread. They thought that the plague was a punishment from God.

This led to people being very unscientific and unhygienic. If we don’t learn from the past, we could make the same mistakes.

Summing up!

Learning from history is a continuous process. We must never assume that we have learned everything there is to know. As more discoveries are made, our knowledge of the past will continue to grow and evolve.

The past is a world of its own. The centuries have gone by and are filled with secrets, scandals, and stories that have been lost in the annals of time.

Boredom: Creating Nu Habits for a More Exciting Life!

Bored girl
Bored girl

Boredom…everyone has those moments when their brain feels like it’s going to shut down from over-stimulation, which makes for some pretty damn boring moments!

The kind of moment where you find yourself zoning out and can’t focus on anything for more than five seconds at a time?

Whereas the monotony of everyday life can be dull and exhausting, especially when there’s nothing new or exciting in our day-to-day life…

But luckily for us…

These three things are guaranteed to make any day less tedious:

  1. food (of course!),
  2.  TV,
  3. and Netflix!

Although, there may not always be an immediate sense of relief if we’re looking for anything close?

It will likely happen sooner rather than later, so you might as well get started with good old-fashioned entertainment while waiting patiently.

Bored Shitless…

boredom

Frankly, over the past month, I have been bored shitless and feeling like all I’m doing is going around and around, only to return to where I started.

Despite being in a position where I can change my daily routines for doing things…it is a helluva job that I can’t ascertain.

Further…I have little inclination to shake things up and find something new and exciting to bring into my otherwise boring world!

Creating New Experiences…

That said, I realize the only way to create new experiences and break my old routine is to liven up my life …is to leave my comfort zone

Here are a few ways to make things more interesting:Boredom

  • Go out with my friends—
  •  Get out and about more – explore new places
  • Go downtown DC and walks around the city

Finally, I realize that taking risks is the only way to make life exciting. And the best thing about taking those kinds of chances is?

You never know what will happen! So go ahead – try something new today, or reconnect with an old favorite activity in hopes that it’ll bring some joy into your world…

That’s what I plan to do!

Thanking you for reading…

Virtuous people often revenge themselves for the constraints to which they submit by the boredom which they inspire.

Force sterilization

Forced Sterilization: A Perilous Undertaking2!

Forced steriziationForced sterilization in America was long and tragically heinous…during the 20th century. Moreover, well-known figures like Theodore Roosevelt supported the legislation and advocated eugenic interventions preventing individuals with inherited traits from reproducing.

For instance, President Roosevelt felt criminals and individuals with certain cognitive disabilities (the so-called ‘feeble-minded‘) should be sexually sterilized.

Coincidently, Roosevelt feared that if eugenic actions were not taken, the United States would be committing ‘race suicide,’ meaning that the superior race would decline.

What a thing for a President to think about—let alone advocate for—the victimization of citizens!

Forced sterillization(Think about it!)

Interestingly, Oliver Wendell Holmes—a man personally appointed to the Supreme Court by Roosevelt—was responsible for upholding compulsory sexual sterilization laws in the United States.

Simply put, vulnerable people were deemed unfit to have children…if they were members of the inferior races, the degeneration of this country…

This article explores America’s dark history of forced sterilization and why it happened. These reprehensible practices stained our nation’s conscience and should never be forgotten or overlooked.

Let’s dive deeper into the tumultuous tragedy inflicted upon thousands of people across the country during The eugenics movement in the U.S. started in the early 1900s.

All forms of eugenics had one thing in common — that people were not allowed to make their own reproductive choices. The government decides who can and can’t reproduce.

Who Was Sterilized? Forced sterilization

The vast majority were women, the poor, the disabled, the mentally ill, and people of color disproportionately were affected by forced sterilization.

Shamefully enough, it’s a way to “expurgate” the genetic pool. An evil sinister attempted to eradicate people with mental illness, disabilities, and people from certain ethnic groups by creating eugenics and the human genome projects.

Interestingly, the projects were viewed as scientific and progressive; but we now know it was nothing more than bigotry, racism, and prejudice of sinister-insidious bastards.

Like Hitler, they wanted science to “fix” it so that certain population growths were stopped by applying selective breeding principles.

Such as eugenics, population control, and the prevention of welfare dependency.

Those who were affected by sterilization included:

 • African-Americans – Most states had laws that allowed for the sterilization of African Americans. It was sometimes used as coercion to control the poor black populations.

• Native Americans – Many reservations had high rates of poverty and disease, so sterilization was used to control these populations.

• Mentally Ill – Mental illness was often misunderstood by the medical community, causing many people to be misdiagnosed and sterilized.

• Disabled – Disabled people were sometimes sterilized so that they wouldn’t be able to have children.

Because of the law, this happened to an unnamed black woman…

In August 1964, the North Carolina Eugenics Board met to decide if a 20-year-old Black woman should be sterilized.

She was a single mother with one child who lived at the segregated O’Berry Center for African American adults with intellectual disabilities in Goldsboro.

According to the North Carolina Eugenics Board, she had an IQ of 62 and exhibited “aggressive behavior and sexual promiscuity.”

Additionally, she had been orphaned as a child and had a limited education. Likely because of her “low IQ score,” the board determined she was not capable of rehabilitation.

Instead, the board recommended the “protection of sterilization” for the woman because she was “feebleminded” and deemed unable to “assume responsibility for herself” or her child. Without her input, Bertha’s guardian signed the sterilization form.

For example…

United States Supreme Court ruling upheld a Virginia law for sterilizing persons as “developmentally inferior.”

The person at the center of the case was Carrie Buck, 18 years old at the time of the trial; she had an illegitimate child and was institutionalized. Afterward, she was ordered to be sterilized.

The Court based its decision on expert testimony from Arthur Estabrook, a physician with experience at the eugenics records office in Cold Harbor Spring, New York.

Estabrook did not re-apply the IQ test that Carrie had been given in the state home, stating instead that he had “talked to Carrie adequately, enough to arrive at his decision that she was feebleminded

Therefore, the Court based its decision on the testimony from Arthur Estabrook, a supposed expert with experience in eugenics.

The Court heard that Carrie’s mother was under government care and feebleminded as well; Needless to say, they characterized Carrie’s six-month-old child as likely feebleminded.

Why Did It Happen?

The eugenics movement in the U.S. started during the late nineteenth century and continued as late as the 1940s.

The movement endorsed inhospitable eugenics, intending to eliminate undesirable genetic traits in the human race through selective breeding.

The American eugenics movement in the early 20th century was a time when laws legalizing forced sterilizations and prohibiting individuals with mental or physical defects from marrying were passed.

In addition, mixed-race couples also faced discrimination as they could not legally get married.

Thepolicies of this country are cruel and unfair, targeting people based on their race. It’s just wrong to treat anyone less than human!

The racist policies imposed by this country targeting people is downright despicable.

And the stupid assholes that came up with this bullshit…should burn in hell for eternity.

What’s more, all forms of eugenics had one thing in common — that people were not allowed to make their own reproductive choices.

Instead, the government decides who can and can’t reproduce.

They believed that they could try to improve the human race by studying genetics and that their experiments would lead to a better life

Aftermath

Eugenics, also known as “racial hygiene” and the “science of racial betterment,” is a movement that emerged in the early 1900s and aimed to fix hereditary traits within a population.

It was promoted by many prominent scientists and thinkers, including Francis Galton, and was very popular with the governments of the day.

Galton was convinced people inherited social and mental traits like talent and intelligence.

The eugenic laws were passed across the country, and around 64,000 people in the United States were sterilized under this legislation, often against their will.

California to pay victims of forced, coerced sterilizations

Nation Jul 7, 2021, 2:29 PM EDT

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — California is poised to approve reparations of up to $25,000 to some of the thousands of people — as young as 13 — who were sterilized decades ago because the government deemed them unfit to have children.

The payments will make California the third state — following Virginia and North Carolina — to compensate victims of the so-called eugenics movement that peaked in the 1930s.

Supporters of the movement believed sterilizing people with mental illnesses, physical disabilities, and other undesirable traits would improve the human race.

While California sterilized more than 20,000 people before its law was repealed in 1979, only a few hundred are still alive.

Conclusion

The history of forced sterilization in America should never be forgotten.

Eugenics may have been widely accepted then but doesn’t justify the worst crimes against humanity and human dignity imaginable.”

And the fact that these practices were once allowed by the government is a shameful stain on our nation’s conscience.

Mistakes

Mistakes: …What They Taught Me! What I Learned!

Mistakes are great teachers. Everyone makes mistakes, but what’s important is how you respond to them.

More importantly, learning from them and growing from them signifies…

  •  maturity,
  •  self-awareness,
  •  and authenticity.

In fact, life has taught me never to make the same mistake again or feel afraid to try because of it.

I learned not to look at them as negative experiences because of stress and anxiety; for personal growth and advancement; instead, they are opportunities.

For the most part, it isn’t something to be ashamed of; rather, it’s an opportunity to learn so that it won’t happen again.

As I have said, You can’t learn without blundering first; and you certainly can’t grow as a person without challenging yourself by trying new things and experimenting with different ideas, attitudes, and actions.

It’s okay to make mistakes.

Some seem to forget that no one is perfect, and we are all human, so don’t stress out if you make a mistake; Instead, use it as an opportunity to grow and improve.

Also, It is important to know that people have different reactions to making blunders; Some people are harder on themselves when they make mistakes, while others don’t even realize they made one.

All the more reason, if you should not beat yourself up or be hard on yourself for being human, you make a mistake, try to step back and think about why you made that mistake in the first place.

  •  Maybe you were tired and didn’t think as clearly as you normally would,
  •  Or you were in a rush and didn’t take the time you normally do, and so on. Mistakes help us learn and grow.
  • We all make mistakes, but how we respond to them matters more.
Sunrise over misty landscape with two trees, herd of cows grazing underneath.

Dwelling on our mistakes is counterproductive.

Dwelling on mistakes is counterproductive…

  • It keeps you zeroed in on what we are most unhappy about; without bringing any resolution to the situation.
  •  You may feel ashamed or guilty about it, preventing you from moving past the mistakes and growing due to them.
  • Also, it can harm your mental health. Stress and anxiety over mistakes can cause you to feel overwhelmed and depressed.
  1. Mistakes are a sign of learning and growth.

In reality, mistakes show that you are authentic, not perfect. They also indicate that you’ve tried new things and thrown caution into the wind.

Mistakes
Mistake scrabble letters word on a yellow background

Making mistakes shows how much you care about being your true self, even if it didn’t work out as planned!

Living an authentic life is better than pretending to be someone you’re not. If mistakes show your true self, what’s wrong with being honest and trying new things?

Three ways to respond to mistakes.

1. Accept mistakes as a normal part of life:

Remind yourself that mistakes are normal and not something to feel guilty or ashamed about. They are something that we all go through because we are all human!

2 . After all, no one is perfect:

So if you make a mistake, it’s important to not dwell on it; remain open to the idea that you can learn from it and grow from the experience.

3. Bottom line…dwelling on the mistake will do you no good:

So let go of any shame or guilt you may be feeling and move on with your life.

 mistakes

Conclusion

Mistakes are often seen as a bad thing, but they can be great opportunities for personal growth.

In as much as we are human, we are not perfect. It is in your best interest to be open to learning from your blunders and grow from the experience.

In short, it is important to remember that everyone blunders, and it is okay to make them. If anyone hints at being perfect…that would be nothing but Bullshit!
