The Ghetto Life…What the World Looks Like When?

The ghetto life

The ghetto life — typically poor, predominantly black neighborhoods — have become microcosms of racial tensions and social injustice.

There is nearly 1.5 million Black youth in the U.S. living in areas considered “statistically high risk” for social, economic, and cultural failure.

For Black youth living in urban ghettos across the country, their experience with racism is more than just an abstract concept or a history lesson—it’s their everyday reality.

It can be especially difficult to navigate this world as a young person of color whose experiences are often alienated by society or invalidated as unimportant.

 Even

within marginalized communities, it can feel like you’re the only person who sees things differently — then you’re the only one who feels so alone and misunderstood.

The isolation that comes with being different from your peers can be incredibly destabilizing and alienating.

The ghetto life…here’s what it looks like to be a Black youth today!

https://jusmeetwo.com/being-black-in-america/

Everyday Racism: What It Feels Like to Be Black in America

The most frustrating part about being Black in America for many Black youths is that it’s a struggle that never really ends.

While there’s certainly value in reflecting on racism and racial inequality history, it’s also important to acknowledge that today’s issues are alive.

Everyday racism is the feeling of being profiled by law enforcement, given a cynical eye from a store clerk.

Unfortunately, it’s always been this way, but there are more occasions where people openly ridicule or make jokes about race nowadays- especially since Donald Trump got elected president!

Everyday racism is the feeling that you’re always under surveillance, receiving a side-eye from a stranger on the subway, and being the only Black person in the elevator or the feeling that you’re always the outsider.

The Ghetto life..Discrimination Is Inescapable

Being Black in America often means that you’re being actively discriminated against.

And unfortunately, this discrimination often occurs in places where you’d expect it to be least tolerated;

That said…discrimination can be both explicit and implicit — it can be intentional, but it can also be unintentional and subconscious.

Black youth experience discrimination in all of its forms. It takes many forms, including the disproportionate discipline of Black youth in schools;

The under-representation of Black people in the workforce, leadership positions, and the racial biases of teachers or other authority figures.

Discrimination also plays out in the form of stereotypes and harmful assumptions about Black culture.

the ghetto life…You’re Constantly Being Judged Based on Your Appearance

The ghetto life
Couple of hip-hop afroamerican on undergraund

What’s more,  blackness is often associated with being “thugged-out,” wearing gold chains, having braids or dreads, or having tattoos covering your body.

The insidious stigma around our Blackness often creates a certain aesthetic expectation for people to fit; and for many Black youth, these expectations can feel restrictive and judgmental.

Additionally, it can be incredibly isolating to be judged based on your appearance rather than your character — but it’s important to remember that you are so much more than the way you look.

You are beautiful, powerful, and enough — no matter what other people think.

The Ghetto Life…People Are Afraid of You — Even Strangers

Nonetheless, stereotypes associated with Black people often make white people uncomfortable and trigger an instinctual fear.

Which leads white people to treat Black youth like they’re dangerous or aggressive — even when walking down the street.

This implicit bias is one of the most frustrating parts of being Black.  Likewise..it is  frustrating to watch people cross the street when you walk past them or to struggle to get a taxi ride home because drivers see you as a threat.

In spite of , how racism make white people feel afraid of you, no matter where you are… studying in the library or shopping in a store …non of that reflects negatively on you.

Good News Is Rare, and Bad News Is Normal …The Ghetto life

The fact that you are Black means that you are more likely to be poor, more likely to be incarcerated, more likely to be unemployed, and more likely to experience a lower healthcare quality.

These unfortunate realities can make it difficult to find good news to celebrate. And the sad fact is that when we look at the statistics, the conclusion is that things will get worse.

Therefore, if you’re Black and want to succeed in school, you have to fight against these statistics. You have to be an overachiever to meet the standard of success.

The Police Are Always Out to Get You

The ghetto life
Police steel handcuffs lying on dark blue jeans background

By comparison…being a Black youth in the United States means that you’re more likely to be stopped by the police,  more likely to be arrested, and more likely to be killed by the police.

As such, it’s important to remember that the police aren’t your friends — they’re meant to serve and protect the people of your community.

Unfortunately, the police don’t always follow protocol or treat Black people fairly, which can be incredibly frustrating.

And it can be especially frustrating if you’re a Black youth who has been taught to be respectful and polite to authority figures — but those authority figures aren’t always respectful in return.

The criminalization of Black youth can be particularly harmful when unfounded suspicions lead to stereotyping.   It also can be scary to think that you could be thrown in jail for doing something as simple as …walking down the street.

For a black person , it can be difficult to prove that you’re innocent when the police are coming after you — especially when they’re racially biased.

Conclusion

Being a Black youth in America is difficult, but it can also be empowering.

It can be empowering to know…

  • Your history and understand the strength of your ancestors.
  •  To appreciate your culture and the experiences that make you who you are.
  • To find a community of people who understand what you’ve been through
  • And know what it feels like to be a Black youth in America.

Although being a Black youth in America can feel isolating, so many people go through the same thing as you. You’re not alone — and hopefully, this article can help you understand that.

Why Life Is like a Box of Chocolates?

Eating chocolates
Eating chocolates

Do you remember the iconic line from Forrest Gump? “Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.”

Well, it turns out life is like a box of chocolates. You see, there are good chocolates, and there are bad chocolates.

However, what makes life so interesting and challenging at the same time is all those different flavors of chocolate (i.e., events and circumstances) all come packed in one little box.

This is a good indication that there’s also bound to be something not-so-great lurking right around the corner for every wonderful moment we have.

In other words, it’s inevitable that sooner or later, we’ll come across some nasty pieces of chocolate – i.e., something rotten or bitter to taste – as well as some very sweet ones – i.e., something so delectable we can hardly wait to gobble it up again.

 Many Tribulations of life…

https://jusmeetwo.com/the-circle-of-life-a-perspective-on-things/

If there’s one thing we can be sure of about life, it will contain a mixture of good and bad. And if there’s one thing we can be sure of about a box of chocolates, it will contain a mixture of good and bad chocolates.

So if life is like a box of chocolates, then it follows that life is like life. The best chocolates in life are like a box of chocolates because a box of chocolates contains both the good and the bad.

If you want to live a happy life, you must accept that this will be the case. There is no way to avoid this truth.

However, if you approach your life with this acceptance, you will be less likely to let the bad things bring you down.

You will be able to enjoy the good things more, and you will have a greater appreciation for the things you have.

Life Is Fragrant with Possibilities!

Life carries the potential for both good and bad things to happen.

There is no way to avoid this. However, there is a way to increase the likelihood that good things will happen to you.

In like matter…It would help if you approached life with positivity to see the potential for good in everything.

You will bring greater joy, satisfaction, and adventure into your life…and experience more of the good that life offers.

There Are No Mistakes, Only Lessons!

The past is just a story, and if you dwell on the negative aspects, then the future will be one big sorry mess.

So stop feeling bad about yourself or what happened in general; see, it was supposed to happen anyway because every moment spent dwelling leads you further down the path without any lessons learned.

Meanwhile, more wasted precious opportunities are being mired deep inside regretful memories and never getting official stamps as “good.”

When you let go of the past, it guides your future.

We all make mistakes, and there’s always a way to learn from them if we take advantage of this gift called life.

Life Is About the Struggle: Good vs. Bad, Light vs. Dark!

Life is a journey, not just one step forward but an eternal struggle to do better than before.

There are so many struggles in life: the challenge of balancing work and family obligations; managing time spent alone or with others depending on our moods…

These drawbacks make every day new – because we’re always striving for progress while trying not to lose sight of what makes us human- kinder words, more generous actions towards other people even if they aren’t returned similar treatment at you!

The Darkest Times Can Produce Your Brightest Lessons!

Do you find yourself in the worst times of your life?

The periods when everything seems to be going wrong can also provide insight and growth.

The worst times of your life can also be some of the most rewarding.

They provide an opportunity for self-reflection and growth that we may not experience otherwise;

They offer a fuller picture of who you are than what’s on display day in and out at work or home with family members.

They’re where we discover who our true friends are, what matters most about success for us as individuals – or maybe even something new that changes how we approach everyday tasks like getting dressed!

The Bitter Truth About Sweetness: Nothing Is Truly Good or Bad Unless You Make It So!

You have the power to…

  • Make your life as sweet or as bitter as you choose.
  • transform unhappiness into happiness,
  • ignorance into wisdom,
  • struggles into strengths,
  • pain into joy,
  • mistakes into gifts,
  • weaknesses into strengths.
  • Your failures into successes

There’s Always Something to Be Grateful For!

Life throws us challenges.

When you’re faced with the greatest of difficulties and trials, when things seem their bleakest;

Remember to be grateful for everything that has happened in your life because there will always come a tomorrow no matter how bad today was!

One thing I learned was not to dwell on yesterday – it’s gone forever, so why waste time thinking about what could’ve been or should happen?

Instead, focus all attention forward towards new opportunities waiting out ahead…

Conclusion

The moral of the story is that you can never predict what life will throw your way. Sometimes things work out in the most amazing ways, and sometimes they don’t.

The quote, “Life is like a box of chocolates,” neatly summarizes the idea that many things are to enjoy in life.

However, it can also be painful and frustrating when we experience bad moments or events as they come along with their unique challenges!

But don’t worry because even though every day brings new obstacles on our journey through this crazy mixed bag called ‘life,’ at some point, everything will balance out!

But no matter what happens, you’ll always learn something from it. So whatever life throws your way, remember to enjoy the ride!

Life Is An Adventure: Lessons that you have learned?

The Circle of Life: A Perspective On Things2!

The circle of life

The Circle of life is those moments in life when you sit back and reflect on all that has happened? Whether these moments are triggered by something that happens in your day-to-day life or something specific, such as a birthday, graduation, wedding, or even the loss of a loved one… these moments are special and leave an everlasting imprint on our minds.

Yes, Simba, but let me explain,” Mufasa begins. “When we die, our bodies become the grass, and the antelope eat the grass. And so we are all connected in the great Circle of Life.”

These precious moments can help us grow into better versions of ourselves. These are the tiny little things of life that make each second so worth living, and they all revolve around what we call ‘The Circle of Life’ – talking about the cycle of life, you know this thing from biology class; it’s what all living things do.

The circle is a continuous loop representing Birth, growth, decay, and death. It is inevitable for every organism to go through this cycle.

The Circle of Life: A Reflection on Life and LivingThe circles of life

The Circle of Life is a very common and simple concept, but as humans, it’s easy to get caught up in the routine of our daily lives and miss out on these tiny little things that make each second so worth living.

A good example of this would be the appreciation of nature, one of the most prominent themes in life, and yet, we don’t take the time to appreciate it.

The Circle of Life happens to all living things, and it is certainly visible. When you look at a flower, a tree, or even the stars in the night sky, you witness the Circle of Life. All living things go through this cycle, and it’s a very special and beautiful thing to be able to observe.

Birth

Now, the first step of the Circle of Life is Birth, which is the moment when a new life comes into this world and starts the cycle.

The moment of Birth can be beautiful and is often something people remember for the rest of their lives. It is one of the most special moments in our lifetime. Birth is an important moment for the person born and the parents.

It can be very challenging physically and emotionally for a woman to go through giving Birth, but it’s something that both mother and father will remember. Birth can also be a very emotional moment for the person who is being born.

A newborn baby has no previous memories, and, as they start their life, they are completely innocent. They are pure, unadulterated, and unspoiled by the world. Birth can be a very special and beautiful moment.

Growth

If Birth is the first step of the Circle of Life, the second step would be growth. Now, growth doesn’t just apply to the growing of plants and trees but also to humans, animals, and everything in between.

As humans, we start at Birth being completely dependent on our parents and other adults to keep us alive and healthy. Then, after a few years, we become independent and start growing and developing into the person we want to be.

We all grow and develop into who we are, and we must allow ourselves to go through the process. We should never try to rush it or try to be someone else just because it’s what others around us want.

Growing and developing is a fragile process that happens at your own pace, so don’t rush it. Allow yourself to grow at the rate you are supposed to grow, and you’ll be okay.

Decay

The third step of the Circle of Life is decay, which can apply to living and non-living things. Now there are a couple of ways that decay can happen.

One is that something is eaten by another organism or dies naturally, like a plant or a tree and then decays. The other way decay can happen is when something breaks down, stops working, and becomes useless.

Humans, unfortunately, experience decay and death too. No one can escape it, and it’s a part of life. Death can come in many forms; it can be a long, painful, and slow process, like a terminal illness, or a quick process like an accident that ends someone’s life before knowing what happened.

Death

The final step of the Circle of Life is death. Death is the final step of the circle, and it’s the moment when life comes to an end.

Death can come in many forms; it can be a long, painful, and slow process, like a terminal illness, or a quick process like an accident that ends someone’s life before knowing what happened.

Now, death can come in many forms, and it can be very painful and difficult to deal with. It can be a long, drawn-out process or over in just a few moments.

Death is never easy…however it is never something to be feared but rather something to be prepared for.

After ThoughtsThe circle of life

Philosophically, the Circle of Life suggests that we begin at the end and finish at the beginning. Our lives, from beginning to end, resemble a complete full circle.

Regardless of how big or small the circle is, it ends the same for everyone. Billions of people inhabit this earth in March 2020, each facing the same threat of a global pandemic.

Every day, human nature beckons us to take action. For us humans to feel accomplished, we have to get out of our “comfort zone” and do things that give us divine satisfaction. https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/tag/circle-of-life

Failed Inspiration…What 2 Do?

Failed inspiration…It’s been a while since I’ve written anything on here. I’m not sure what my reason is for the lack of posts, but I know Life has been busy.

Meantime, inspiration was hard to come by.

But recently, I was reminded that inspiration can be found in the little things. It might be a kind word from a stranger or a sunset over the water.

Maybe it’s something as simple as your favorite song coming on the radio.

Failed Inspiration…

Wherever you find it, take a moment to appreciate it. Because when you feel even a bit of inspiration, it can make all the difference.

You don’t need to wait for someone else to give you permission to be inspired. You can find bits of inspiration in your everyday Life – you just have to be open to it.

Remember that a little inspiration can go a long way when you feel low.

Here are some things that might help get you started:

1. Go on a memorable excursion. You can do several things, ranging from exploring a new part of town to visiting a nearby museum or taking a scenic hike.

When we change our surroundings, it can jump-start our creativity and help us see the world in new ways. Plus, getting out and about has the added benefits of fresh air and exercise!

2. Although positive thinking has many benefits, finding optimism 24 hours a day is a challenge.

Sadly, work, Life, and relationships are often stressful.

It’s sometimes a good idea to look outside for inspiration if you want to keep the flame of positivity burning inside you.

Overtime, I learned one of the best way to get inspired is to surround yourself with things that inspire you.

There is nothing more inspiring than seeing someone achieve their dreams in this world. Whether it’s a friend, family member, or even a stranger, watching someone pursue their passions and reach their goals is incredible.

Seeing others succeed also reminds us that anything is possible if we set our minds to it.

So next time you’re feeling lost or uninspired, take a moment to reflect on all the people in your Life who have achieved their dreams.

It might just be the motivation you need to get started on yours.

Failed inspiration…Bloom with grace wherever Life plants you.”

It’s perfectly natural to have moments where we don’t feel our best. But the good news is that there are always ways to turn things around.

So there you have it, tips to jump-start your creativity. I hope these help get your creative juices flowing and that you’ll share with us some of the great things you come up with.

How do you get inspired? What are your favorite sources of inspiration? I’d love to hear about them …Let’s talk about it in the comments below!

Self-Discovery through Who Am I?

Self discoverySelf discovery…I’m writing this post for those trying to discover who they are.

It is meant to help you understand what you want out of life and pursue it. Before we begin, I want to make two things clear:

  •  there is no one path that everyone should take
  • and everyone has different needs.

I intend to talk in bold, general terms to help you in your journey of self-discovery.

It requires vulnerability to admit something wrong with how you’ve been living your life

You might feel like this whole ordeal will be too much or won’t work out but know that this process requires courage and heartache.

You’re not alone on this journey, though. Millions of people have found themselves and succeeded through hard work and perseverance.

What is the purpose of self-discovery?

The purpose of self-discovery is to make sure you live your life with a purpose and live it authentically.

That said…it is a process of taking inventory of who you are and what you want out of life.

It could be as simple as finding your passion in life or as deep as finding out what you’re meant to do for the world. Knowing yourself can help bring clarity into your life, which will help you gain a sense of peace and confidence.

Self discovery

How does self-discovery work?

The first step is admitting there’s something wrong with how you have been living your life, which requires a level of vulnerability. The next step is identifying what you want out of your life.

Moreover, this can be done through introspection and journaling your thoughts.

  • Next, prioritize what you want to do in your life by identifying the most important missing factors.
  •  Last, build a plan for how to make those changes happen.

Self-discovery can be difficult and uncomfortable at times, but this process will help you figure out who you are and what’s important to you, thanks to the outlined steps.

The stages of self-discovery

  • The first step in the process of self-discovery is admitting there’s something wrong with the way you have been living your life.

You might feel like this whole ordeal will be too much or won’t work out, but know that this process requires courage and heartache.

After you commit, it’s important to take action. That doesn’t mean forgetting about who you committed yourself to; it just means starting to act on those things that now matter most to you.

It could be anything from changing your diet, exercising more, getting more sleep, or even starting a business that aligns with your values.

  • It all starts with the initial goal of action, which is the third stage of self-discovery: action.
  • The final stage of self-discovery is accepting who you have become through this journey by embracing yourself fully as a person that reflects all aspects of who you are.

This stage can come at any time after commitment or action because each step builds upon itself, so don’t hold back if it seems like progress has slowed down.

Meanwhile, what I hope this post will do for you, is let you know that no matter what happens in life, there will always be another opportunity for success if we try our hardest for ourselves first.

Self discovery

How to start your self-discovery journey

The first step to finding yourself is admitting something wrong with how you live your life. You might feel like this whole ordeal will be too much or like it won’t work out, but know that this process requires courage and heartache.

Start by taking time for self-reflection. There is a lot of power in introspection and self-discovery.

Don’t worry about what others will say as they may not understand why you are doing this, so don’t let their opinions deter you.

Instead, take the time to get inside your head and discover what is holding you back from being successful in life.

Next, please make a list of all the goals that matter most to you–the things that give you joy or your life meaning–and put them in order from most important to least important.

Keep those goals in mind when figuring out how to start your journey of self-discovery and take one day at a time until reaching your goal.

Conclusion

Don’t be afraid of who you might find. For the first time in your life, take the time to learn about yourself and discover what it is that makes up the person you are today.

Regardless of where you are on your journey, self-discovery is a lifelong journey that can be hard and challenging, but one that can lead you down a path of self-growth and help you to see life in a different light.

Thanks for stopping by and reading!

Please come again…
