Lawsuit Filed Against Johnson & Johnson for Targeting Products Linked to Cancer to Black Women, Group Alleges

Black Women Advocacy Group Filed Lawsuit

A Black women’s advocacy group filed a lawsuit Tuesday accusing Johnson & Johnson of selectively marketing the company’s talcum-based products;

Including Johnson’s Baby Powder, to African-American women despite knowing for years that the items had been linked to ovarian canceran allegation J&J denies.

The pharma giant sold talc-based powder for more than a century, according to its website;

Beforeย issuing a recallย of 33,000 bottles in 2019 and discontinuing its sale in the United States and Canada in May 2020.

But even then J&J said it would allow existing inventory to be sold until it runs out.

Attorneys for the National Council of Negro Women, including prominent civil rights lawyer Benjamin Crump, filed their complaint in the Superior Court of New Jersey;

Tuesday morning before hosting a press conference at the council’s office in Washington D.C. a short time later.

AMERICAN Cancer Society

The American Cancer Society says talc that has asbestos in it “is generally accepted as being able to cause cancer if it is inhaled,” but notes that “the evidence about asbestos-free talc is less clear.

“The World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer says talc that contains asbestos as “carcinogenic to humans” and classifies the use of talc-based body powder on genital areas as “possibly carcinogenic to humans,” according to the ACS.ย

Most experts agreeย more research is needed.

National Council Of Negro Women

The National Council of Negro Women’s lawsuit filing came less than two months after the US Supreme Court declined to review a Missouri appeals court ruling;

That upheld aย billionaward to a group of women who sued J&J after developing ovarian cancer, which a jury determined stemmed from exposure to asbestos in the company’s talcum-based powders.

Failure is not a CHOICE YOU CHOOSE

FAILURE โ€ฆOUR JOURNEY THROUGH LIFE

Failure is not a Choiceโ€ฆour journey through life isn’t always unproblematic, as we know! Sometimes you have those moments where your dreams seem to get lost, and nothing is going quite as planned.

Failure is not a choiceWe all have experienced some setbacks in our lives at some point and time. I must admit that life threw setbacks that were very difficult to overcome. However, you know what they say about setbacks; they are the perfect scenario for learning.

Life lessons are to be learned, and challenges will make you stronger. For me, tough times forced me to take a good look at myself, not from someone’s standpoint. But the person that lives deep inside.

ย “There are moments when troubles enter our lives, and we can do nothing to avoid them. But they are there for a reason. Only when we have overcome them will we understand why they were there.” โ€“ย Paulo Coelho, ‘The Fifth Mountain.’

โ€œChildren have a lesson adults should learn, to not be ashamed of failing, but to get up and try again. Most of us adults are so afraid, so cautious, so ‘safe,’ and therefore so shrinking and rigid and afraid that it is why so many humans fail. Most middle-aged adults have resigned themselves to failure.โ€
โ€• Malcolm X, The Autobiography of Malcolm X

โ€œโ€œChildren who are not encouraged to do, to try, to explore, to master, and to risk failure, often feel helpless and inadequate. Over-controlled by anxious, fearful parents, these children often become anxious and fearful themselves. This makes it difficult for them to mature. Many never outgrow the need for ongoing parental guidance and control. As a result, their parents continue to invade, manipulate, and frequently dominate their lives.โ€

Life The Truth And Being Free YOU HEARD ME

ELECTION IS OVERIn life, you have the power to make one’s own choices or decisions. Find something or someone to inspire you and remind you that your choices determine your life – whether to be happy or sad, whether to look forward or back, whether you go one better, or lose, whether you succeed or not.

Remember, the choices you make impact your life and the lives of those people around you. Look for poems, quotes, or motivational talk from someone you admire to make the right choices; later in life, you will look back and be thankful that you made the decision you did!

Behold a little advice from OTHERS

Who are you to judge the life I live?

I know I’m not perfect

-and I don’t live to be-

but before you start pointing fingers…

make sure your hands are clean!”

โ€• Bob Marley

Suffering has been stronger than all other teachings, and has taught me to understand what your heart used to be. I have been bent and broken but – I hope – into a better shape.”

โ€• Charles Dickens, Great Expectations

No persons are more frequently wrong, than those who will not admit they are wrong.”

โ€• Franรงois de La Rochefoucauld

I’m selfish, impatient, and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can’t handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don’t deserve me at my best.”

โ€• Marilyn Monroe

There is neither happiness nor misery in the world; there is only the comparison of one state with another, nothing more. He who has felt the deepest grief is best able to experience supreme happiness. We must have felt what it is to die, Morrel, that we may appreciate the enjoyments of life.

“Live, then, and be happy, beloved children of my heart, and never forget, that until the day God will deign to reveal the future to man, all human wisdom is contained in these two words, ‘Wait and Hope.”

โ€• Alexandre Dumas

After Thoughts

Our journey through life isn’t always unproblematic, as we know! Sometimes you have those moments where your dreams seem to get lost, and nothing is going quite as planned.

We all have experienced some setbacks in our lives at some point and time.

I’ve learned all I needed from experience was some inspiration to spark my inner strength and encouraged me to keep going. My setback came in the form of a Traumatic Brain Injury.

My life, as it once was, is no more; after passing out hitting my head on a carpeted concrete floor. Gradually, over two years, my life was unbalanced. I had problems with walking, talking, thinking, and remembering things.

None of those things crippled me for life…the problems are very much a part of my life today; however, they don’t control me; I own them. I live the truth, and it set me free.

Life Whispers Pay Attention Please!

Life whispers pay attentionDifficulties come when you don’t pay attention to life’s whisper. Life always whispers to you first, but if you ignore the whisper, sooner or later you’ll get a scream. Oprah Winfrey,read more

Something to think

What is Life Whispers? They’re the little reminders that life is worth living, even when it’s tough. I’ve found them in some of the most unlikely places.

“I was sure I had it all figured out.

Pay attention to the “life whispers” you’ll find that they are trying to tell you something. Life whispers are different from life shouts. You have to listen closely, look carefully, and feel gentle with your heart to hear it.

Life Whispers are messages that the universe sends you. These are usually delivered in times of trouble or uncertainty, but they can also be pleasant surprises! Life whispers surround us every day, and we don’t notice them because our expectations blind us.

NEVER GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAMS

Never give upWe should never give up on dreaming. Why? Because without dreams what ย would life be like…if we have nothing to look forward too? Mine you now dreams are what gives you a purpose in life.

Sometimes we might fail the first time attempting to bright a dream to life and we just give up without even trying again.

Over the years Iโ€™ve dreamed about so many things that I wanted to do; for example, I wanted to become a doctor. Well thatโ€™s as far as I got with that dream. Circumstances and nobody to turn to for support, I gave up on that dream.

My next dream was to go into the military. Well I made the first step I went to an Air Force Recruitment Office took a series of tests and failed. Guess what I never tried again.

From that point on I was disheartened because there were so many obstacles and barriers blocking every little thing. So, I just went about finding my way in a world that was full of mean and hateful people.ย

I GAVE UP ON MY DREAMS TEMPORARILYย

Luckily, I had the determination and new dreams to bring to life. Such as…becoming a wife and mother of no more than two children. ย Girls are what I wanted. Growing up the oldest in a family of ten kids…six of them hard-headed boys. ย I just made the decision I didnโ€™t want any.

A funny thing happened, at 21 years old I got married. ย Twenty-two had my first daughter, them at twenty-four I had my second daughter. ย That was it…as life would have it I couldnโ€™t deliver them naturally. See for reasons unknown I only dilated 4 centimeters with the first and ย 0 with the second after hours of being in labor.

ย Moving forward...I did accomplish my dream of going to college and becoming a supporter of this country. ย I got a degree in Business management and spend 25 years working for the Federal Government. Itโ€™s never too late, all you have to do is try and never give up!
