Mentally Abusive…I Thought He Loved Me!

Mentally Abusive -everyone wants to believe that their partner is the one. But strange, unsettling things happen when you’re in an abusive relationship. You can’t explain them, so you rationalize them.
You keep hoping that it will get better, and you’re working hard to make it so. It is not until it’s too late.
Love is a many-splendored thing, and the feelings we have for others are deep and complex. But being in an abusive relationship is not. You may believe that you love your partner and that they love you in return.
Two weeks ago my niece was murder by her abusive husband.
Mentally abusive
You may have had your suspicions, but you were hopeful that your suspicions were wrong. Maybe they had a few bad days or a few red-wine nights. Maybe they had an ex that they weren’t getting over.
Maybe they were just stressed out or unhappy at their job. Or maybe they were being a little too nice, or a little too jealous.
But the signs of abuse are there, and they are very subtle. They are not overt or intense. They are not physical, or threatening, or violent.
They are not obvious. They’re under the surface, and that’s how the abuser stays hidden from you.

Mentally  Abusive Shaming and Blaming

Abusers use shame to control their partners. They make their victims feel as though they are to blame for the abuse.
This is one of the most damaging forms of abuse, because it breaks down trust.
You begin to question yourself and your motives. If you’re the only partner in the relationship who seems to have issues, it may seem like you are the one who has the problem.
You may start to believe that you are the cause of the abuse, even though it is clear that your partner is the one with the problem.

Isolation

When you love someone who is abusive, you may feel like you are being pulled in two directions. You want your partner to get help, but you also want them to understand you and love you the way you want to be loved.
You may feel like you have to choose between your partner and your own needs.
You may start to withdraw from friends and family, isolating yourself from support. You may start to feel unsafe, or like your partner is watching you.
You may start to have irrational fears that your partner will come to harm you. This isolation will make it more difficult for your partner to seek help for abuse.
They may try to talk to you about it, but you may not be able to understand them or listen to them.
It is common for victims of domestic abuse to isolate themselves from friends and family.
They may believe that their loved one will not approve of those people, or they may believe that the abuse will be worse if they are around other people.

Disqualifying and Demeaning

Abusers often make their partner feel like they are stupid or inferior. This is humiliating, and it is often a way to control the other person.
It may happen subtly or it may be blatant. It may even feel like it is your partner’s way of “teasing” you.
It is a way of blaming you for the abuse, which is another way of making you feel like you are to blame.

Accusing and Belittling

Abusers often accuse their partner of things that are not true. This is a way to put the other person down, to make them feel bad about themselves, and to make them question their motives and worth.
This is often coupled with belittling, which is making your partner feel bad about themselves by calling them names or making fun of their appearance.
This is another way to make you feel like you are to blame and to make you question yourself.

Emotional Manipulation

Loving someone who is abusive means that you have to deal with a lot of manipulation. Your abuser may tell you that they love you, and then they will do something that makes you doubt it.
Or they may say that they are tired, or they need time to themselves, and then they yell or threaten. The goal of manipulation is to confuse and to break you down.
You have to work hard to keep your own feelings from getting pulled into the manipulation, and to work hard to make decisions and plans without letting your abuser get to you.

Isolation and Control

It’s important to remember that even when your partner is in a bad place, you are not. When your partner is abusive, they leave you isolated physically.
They may lock you out of the house, or tell you that you cannot go see a friend or family member.
You are left with no money and no way to get to a job. You are isolated in your thoughts, your feelings, and your actions.
Isolation and Stalking
It is not uncommon for domestic abusers to track their partners. They may follow them to work and they may keep tabs on their social media. This makes it hard for the partner to feel safe.
It may feel like the partner is being stalked or chased. You may feel like you are being watched, or that you are being punished for the abuse.
This is an attempt to control you through fear. Your partner may try to tell you that it is “just” fear, but it is still control.

Isolation and Violence

Domestic violence is never okay. You may not be physically harmed, but the emotional and psychological damage is just as severe.
The isolation and control that you feel are often just as bad as the physical violence.
You may have extreme feelings of fear, you may have trouble sleeping, you may have trouble concentrating, you may have trouble holding a job.
The abuser controls your every movement, your every thought, and your every emotion. They make you feel like you are not capable of doing anything or being anything on your own.
This takes a toll on your self-esteem.

Conclusion

Abusers do not just make mistakes. They do not just get a little too angry or a little too frustrated.
They do not just push the wrong button. They do not just make poor decisions. They are abusive.
Whether you are the person who is being abused or the person who is abusing, this article is important for you to read and understand. Abuse is never okay.
It is never a mistake. It is never something that can be forgiven. It is never something that is just a little unfortunate or frightening. It is a serious, violent crime.
It is important to know how to recognize abuse, and it is important to know how to get help. You cannot stay in a relationship with an abuser and hope for the best.
The abusive person may improve for a while, but they will always have some type of violent or abusive behavior.
If it is ever dangerous for you to stay in the relationship, you must leave. You deserve better, and so does your safety.

Mysteries Of The Mind:Is A Curious a Thing!

Mysteries of the mind do you ever wonder about how it works? How can we remember specific details from years ago but then forget

Do you ever wonder about the mysteries of the mind? How can we remember specific details from years ago but then forget what we were saying a moment ago?

The human mind is a curious thing, and it’s full of hidden mysteries waiting to be explored.

What do you think about when you’re not thinking about anything in particular? Do your thoughts ever take you on a journey to someplace strange and interesting?

Why can some people stay calm under pressure while others feel like they’re about to have a panic attack? There’s so much that we still don’t understand how our brains work.

My Brain Injury

My life changed when I passed out and hit my head on the floor in 2008. At first, I didn’t realize that something was wrong.

It wasn’t until two years, in 2010 later, that the symptoms began to surface, and I was diagnosed with – a traumatic brain injury caused by falling on my head during an episode of blacking out (fatally).

Since then, life has been different for me; nothing feels quite right anymore— I don’t feel like myself anymore…I developed a Jamaica accent and most other things about myself, like handwriting and speech patterns – basically, everything changed such as…

  • Personality changes
  • The processing and understanding of information changed. Simple things no longer made sense.
  • I suffered from social anxiety, irritability, anger, depression, feelings of overwhelm, general anxiety, mood swings, or emotional lability (teariness).
  • Stress seizures (my brain shuts me down if I become overly stressed.
  • Most of the time, I feel like a different person.
  • It is now 2022-very little has changed. So, I take it and deal with it.

Scientists are making progress every day, and they are learning more and more about the amazing things our minds are capable of.

Allen Institute for Brain Science

If you ask Christof Koch, Ph.D., Chief Scientist and President of the Allen Institute for Brain Science, how close we are to understanding our brains.

“We don’t even understand the brain of a worm,” Koch said.

The lab roundworm, more technically known as Caenorhabditis elegans, houses 302 neurons and 7,000 connections between those neurons in its tiny body.

Researchers have painstakingly mapped and described all those connections in recent years.

And we still don’t fully understand how they all work synergistically to give rise to the worm’s behaviors.

Humans have approximately 86 billion neurons in our brains, woven together by an estimated 100 trillion connections or synapses.

It’s a daunting task to understand how those cells work, let alone how they come together to make up our sensory systems, behavior, and consciousness.

What is the brain made of?

The brain consists mostly of gray matter and white matter, brain tissue and its interconnections or bundles of axons.

Look more closely at the former, and one can distinguish neurons and glia (the other kind of brain cell). But we’re far from understanding all the types of neurons and other brain cells at the level of what they do.

What will it mean to understand our brains?

When we think about understanding something, we often think about being able to explain it in a relatively simple way.

In science, researchers in other fields look to physics as a model of understanding, said Koch, a former physicist.

The physical world lends itself to abstractions that can be boiled down to (relatively) simple equations.

But what if biology doesn’t? The more Koch and others at the Allen Institute study the brain at a large-scale, looking at many or most cells in the brain rather than just a few, the more they realize that even the parts of neuroscience they thought the field had nailed down are more complicated than anyone had realized.

Conclusion:

So, there you have it. . A human mind is a fascinating place, and there are still plenty of mysteries waiting to be explored.

Let me know what you think.

The Exasperated Brain Child with a Brain Injury

Why I Hate Florida Gov. Ron Desantis New Guidelines?

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed new guidelines involving race-baseddiscussions in businesses and schools as part of his campaign againstcritical race theory, which he called a “pernicious” ideology.

I’m not sure what’s funnier, the fact that Ron DeSantis had to sign new guidelines involving race-based discussions in businesses and schools…OR the fact that he put his signature on them.

If you’re one of those “politically correct” snowflakes who think things like this aren’t racist, you probably won’t find this very funny.

But for the rest of us who realize that there’s a big difference between actual racism and calling out people when they act like idiots, we can see the humor in it all.

Is this the start of a new era for race relations in America?

You’re probably wondering how Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis plans to stop businesses from discussing race relations with their employees.

When you cross an outspoken conservative with a new set of race-based guidelines for businesses, what do you get?

If you’re Ron DeSantis, you get a signature on said guidelines. Critics are already labeling the move “political correctness run amok,” but what do they know?

This is Florida, after all. We’ll have to wait and see how this all plays out, anyway…

What kind of crazy-ass ideology is this bullshit. Does this make sense? Hell to the NO!

The sins of your forefathers are your damn birthrights; just as everything else you inherited, all of your wealth built on the backs of SLAVE labor.

Stop all of your damn whinings and complaining about white people are inherently racist. Truth be told…some of you are rotten to the core of your soul! If the shoe fits…own it…wear it.

To that end…Many of you people should feel guilt for past aggressions committed by your ancestors. Why?

Because as history has shown us, the race did determine a person’s status as being privileged or oppressed back then and still does today!

The attacks of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis are unbelievable!

“DeSantis announced Florida students would not have oppressive ideologies imposed on them, as the bill provides “substantive protections” for students in grades K to 12. “

He said “pernicious ideologies” would not be allowed.

The nitwit has announced that he will not use tax dollars to teach our kids how to hate this country or each other.

However, he stops short of clarifying the skin color of children who will not be taught African-American history if it is only seen through the eyes of oppression and racism?

Surely you aren’t speaking about children of color! They already know what oppression and racism are; and where they come from.

Without a doubt…it’s all about whiteness.👎🏽

To be sure…his motive against critical race theory isn’t just an attempt at rewriting the black past but also to soften any blow delivered by vicious crimes committed upon African people by their white owners.

The beating, rapes, and fathering of children with slave women… forbade them from learning to read or write, coupled with splitting families by selling them for a price.

 Why? You know—-CONTROL.

Comparatively, what the Republicans are attempting today is uniquely the same horrific insidious actions taken by buffoons in charge yesterday. 🤬

Gov. DeSantis’ your abhorrent Black attack policies will strengthen us; we are sick and tired of listening to your distorted ideologies…you are morally bankrupt.

In short, you all can’t rewrite history! What is done, and no matter how hard you jackasses try, you will not succeed in reversing the stains left behind by your ancestors in history.

Question: Have you considered how this makes the black and brown people feel? You are trying to downplay our history, stories, and prospects.🤯Continue reading

Shhhh… Listen! What Does The World Need Now??

What does the world need now? According to the classic song by The Isley Brothers, the answer is love.

But I think we could all use a little peace and harmony too. Maybe what the world really needs now is respect.

Respect for each other, our planet, and respect for all of life. What do you think? Can we make that happen? Let’s work together to create a more peaceful and harmonious world! 🙂

But do you think the world needs more of these things? I’m not so sure. We need something a little different. Something a little edgier. Something a little more… controversial.

What the world needs now is violence! Yup, that’s right, violence! Think about it for a second. If everyone got into a big ol’ fistfight every day, how much more peaceful would the world be?

We wouldn’t have to worry about getting along because we’d all be too damn tired from fighting! OK, maybe this isn’t a good idea!

There is too much violence already in the world!

From another point of view, some people feel what the world needs now is more peace, love, and harmony. We can all agree on that. But what happens after that?

What do we need next? More respect for one another? Cooperation? Kindness? A sense of community? I think we can all agree on those things too.

So let’s stop with the introspection and get to work making the world a better place! Let’s show the world what it means to be a community where respect and kindness thrive!

Let’s make some noise and let the world know that we are sick and tired of all of the bullshit going down around us.

Wait for a second and listen up. I think I have something new to add to the mix: Shhhh, SHUSHING!

If we can all learn to silence each other, the world will instantly become more peaceful.

Just try it out and see for yourself; next time someone is speaking loudly in public or carrying on a fight with their partner, give them the Shusher and watch them transform into a well-behaved member of society.

Who knew peace could be so simple? Try it out today, and let me know how you go! I know, I know. Peace, love, harmony, and respect aren’t working; they never have and possibly never will.

So…what does the world REALLY need right now is ____________?

Yes, you heard me. It’s up to us to fill in the blank! So what do you think the world needs now? Some to read

Let’s get creative and see if we can come up with something good!

Conclusion:

The world needs more of _____. What do you think? Let’s get creative and see if we can come up with something good! I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below – let’s chat!

Intimate partner violence

Intimate partner violence (IPV)…let’sTalk

Intimate partner violence Intimate partner violence (IPV) …my family was dealt a devastating blow when we lost an integral member to it.

My great-niece became an orphan thanks to her father’s murder of this child’s mother and suicide right afterward – but it could have been so much worse since she was in the house.

The sad situation is that this little child was home when her dad murdered her mommy. Unfortunately…This moment will become something she needs to deal with for years, maybe even decades.

Who knows, the awful circumstances that led up today?

There has been some recent trouble between them at home, but none would explain why he committed such vicious crimes.
