Confessions…of a Black Girl Like Me2!

Confessions  Confession -…to put it bluntly, it’s not easy being a black girl in America. It’s hard enough trying to keep our hair from becoming an afro, let alone trying to find the perfect shade of concealer that matches our skin tone;

And who can forget all those days spent struggling with finding jeans to fit our hip and thighs that are long enough but don’t have extra fabric bunching around our ankles?

Let me tell you; it is no walk in the park! So I want to share some struggles that only other Black girls know about when navigating this world.

Confessions…I am a black woman who has been through it all.

Confessions—I’ve seen the good, the bad, and the ugly. But here’s what you should know about me: no matter how many times relaxers or my eyebrows burn, my hair is thinned out by tweezers; I’m still going to stand up proud and say that I’m a black girl like me!

Most importantly, a black girl from the south. I was born into a family that struggled to make ends meet. The oldest of ten children never had a bedroom or bed to myself until I moved out on my own, essentially because there were too many children and not enough space.

Confessions…As I said, a Black girl like me … I’m tired of people asking me why I look mad all the time.

My confession is—It’s not that Black girls like me have to fight all the time to maintain our sanity. It’s just that we’re too busy juggling a million things because society won’t let us forget that we’re Black girls, and it needs us to carry this weight on our backs while also being mothers and wives and sisters and daughters.

And sometimes, when you get so many different responsibilities in one day, your face is going to be angry at the end of it all. But hey! We made it through another day- so tomorrow can’t be any worse than today was, right?

Have you ever felt like you are trying to do everything in life on your own? I know I do. As a black girl, it’s hard sometimes to be vulnerable and show my emotions because of the fear that people will perceive me differently.

It’s also difficult for me to ask for help or admit when I’m struggling because of this fear that they’ll think less of me.

I’m one of the few black girls who are not afraid to admit I am crazy. But for me to stay sane, my family and friends know that I need my space; they understand that it’s essential to have time just for myself.

Confessions…I love Beyonce, my family, and fried chicken.

My favorite color is not pink. And I have an obsession with watching Dr. Pimple Popper on the television. It’s gross …but I like the show.

Like any other black girl in America, it’s not always easy, but no matter what happens to us along our journey of life, we can’t lose sight of who we are because at the end of the day, none of this matters anyway!

Furthermore, some think they know what it means to be a black girl in America, but you don’t. I can tell because there’s no way you’re as woke as me. I’m not even sorry for the shade!

Confessions…I’m a black girl who is not ashamed of her roots.

I love my natural hair and everything from fried chicken to watermelon. But society has been telling me that being black isn’t okay for as long as I can remember – so much so that I started believing it myself.

I decided to stop fighting against what was right in front of me and embrace all that comes with being a Black Girl Like Me! Join me on this journey through the ups and downs of life as a woman, wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend…a BLACK GIRL LIKE ME!

BLINDNESS OF HEARTS AND VANITY OF MINDS

JusMee Talkin

Dare To Be You… IN A WORLD OF 2 MANY PEEPS!

Dare to be youIn a world where everyone is trying to be someone they’re not, it’s important to remember that you should always dare to be yourself. I’m here to remind you of all the things about your personality and quirks that make you unique and wonderful.

Hold onto your horses; I don,t know you, and perhaps, I should not be talking about your personality. So please forgive me. Anyway, Don’t try so hard because we all know there is no one like you!

In other words, you are perfect in every way; we need more people like you in this world. And let our true colors shine through.

So take a deep breath, get comfortable with who you are, and dare to be YOU!

I realized a long time ago, no matter how you slice it, we’re all a little bit weird in some form or fashion. I have also learned that it is not what others think of you; it is how you feel about yourself.

but luckily for us, there are some great people out there who celebrate individuality- they call themselves “weirdos.”

Point Blank..No if but about it.

Therefore, just be yourself and hope that someone finds the quirky charm in your personality endearing.

Dare to be YOU!  If not you’re not true to yourself.

Below are four ways to learn how to be yourself and be happily:

  • Don’t worry about others’ opinions of you.
  • Own your mistakes and learn from them.
  • No one is perfect, and it’s important to own up when we make mistakes. But positive self-talk can be a more powerful tool in overcoming negative thoughts than trying not to think about the problem or dwell on what could go wrong.
  • Everyone has the power to be happy. It starts with self-love and appreciation for what you have, but it also helps if your positive outlook on life outweighs any negative thoughts that may come up in a day’s schedule or conversation.
  • One of my favorite ways of doing this? Finding an activity, when times get tough- things happen from time to time and doing my hobbies remains at hand, readily providing solace during these trying moments by reminding myself why being alive is worth all the challenges we face; together!

Final Thoughts

It takes courage to be yourself, but you are brave. You deserve the life that will make your heart sing and fulfill all of your dreams. The steps may seem difficult at first, but they’re accessible when you do them one step at a time.

And not only does being yourself make things less complicated, but it also means you’ll live authentically rather than faking or forcing anything.

In other words, by simply staying true to yourself, you will have the best chance at achieving happiness and living a fulfilling life filled with love & laughter. You deserve nothing less, so don’t give up on chasing after YOUR dreams!

When you are authentic, you choose your path. Letting go of what you don’t need when you live your life for yourself and not just the results of your actions (faking it till you make it).

This clarifies and pushes purpose to you, living for something greater than you.Book on Dare to be you.

You will find that making decisions based on what will achieve your goals will help you attain the life you want, and your success with each step will allow you to enjoy the process.

FAILURE IS NOT A CHOICE…It’s A Growth Opportunity 2!

Failure is not a choice, but it’s also an opportunity for growth. It can make us stronger and more determined to succeed!

We’ve all experienced setbacks in our lives at some point – whether they’re small or large failures, don’t let them get you down because every challenge offers new opportunities; take this one as your victory march towards success: I said no!!!

That said, I admit my failures were very frustrating, and I know this feeling well because it happened to me recently when life threw several difficult obstacles my way, which were hard to overcome temporarily. However, You’ve heard that before.

We all know life throws some tough challenges our way – but sometimes these obstacles block us from reaching even greater heights and making what could have been happening for no reason at all;

For example, like getting knocked down on purpose to learn how strong or weak they made ourselves before deciding whether to give up entirely or not.

Well, what does setback mean anyway?

It simply means an obstacle preventing progress or success from happening – isn’t everything just one significant setback after another anyways?? So why worry about bad luck if you can call your own.

failure is not a choice

Do you know what they say about setbacks?

Life is a roller coaster, and sometimes it’s hard to get off. Life throws us curveballs, but the good news is that you can always choose your attitude towards them!

Failure is not a choice  WHAT NEXT?

Your mindset will dictate how difficult or easy life gets for yourself, so don’t give up when things get tough – there may still be hope on this hill yet!!t!!

When you are going through something difficult, sometimes the people around us don’t understand or even know what to do.

They may say things such as “you’re just being dramatic” or offer no support whatsoever – this can be hard on your mental health and wellbeing because it makes everything seem so much worse than they are!

NEXT ….Failure is not a choice!

However, What matters is how we pick ourselves back up and move on with the next challenge in front of us.

Conclusion paragraph: I know this feeling well because it happened to me recently when life threw several difficult obstacles my way, which were hard to overcome temporarily. However, you’ve heard that before, and we all get knocked off our feet at some point or another.

I had a few setbacks that I couldn’t overcome. One time, my dream of becoming an astronaut seemed to get lost in the stars!

Favor…Hey Can You Help Me With 1?

Favor

Hey would you do me a favor, I woke up in the morning and looked at my reflection in the mirror. My hair is grayer, wrinkles around my eyes are more pronounced, and I could feel something was wrong with this picture.

I went to grab a cup of coffee, but when I got to the kitchen table, it felt like something had changed again. It wasn’t just because of what was happening behind me. The chair next to mine had just been vacated by someone who left their jacket on the seat before they walked away for good.

If you could do me a favor?

So, I’m writing this story in the hope that someone will read it, and remind me, when I can’t remember my name or where I live or what day today is;  so if you could do me a favor and tell me my name at least, then that would mean a lot!

I am a Grandmother with many challenges and  my days is full of these things, but that’s just the way it is for us older ladies.

As my Life is moving quickly, I want to enjoy it with peace. Still, every day is full of challenges and new opportunities to live fully in the present moment.

Life is good–There’s more to life than what meets the eye. Even when you can’t see it, the sun is always burning and the stars are always shining. The world is spinning and you’re grounded on the earth. Crystals are hiding in ordinary stones!

No age of life is inglorious. Youth has its merits, but living to a ripe old age is the true statement of value. Aging is the road that we take to discern our character. Fame and fortune can elude us, but character is immortal. We must encounter a sufficient variety of experiences including both failures and accomplishments in order to gain nobility of character.”
