Memorial Dayโ€ฆRemembering Our Fallen Herosโ€™ โ€ฆ

  • Memorial DayMemorial Day is a time to remember and honor those who have fallen and were wounded in battle.

It’s a time to come together as a nation, reflect on the sacrifices made by the military members, and express our gratitude for their service.ย

That saidโ€ฆI want to take a moment to remember all American heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country on the Memorial Day!

Also, those killed in action will forever be remembered as selfless warriors who put their country before themselves.ย

There are some killed in action but were never identified, such as…

The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier: A Symbol of SacrificeMemorial Day

In 1920, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier was established at Arlington National Cemetery. The tomb was created to honor the soldiers who had fought in World War I and lost their lives.ย

The remains of an unidentified soldier from the war were brought to the cemetery and buried there. Since then, the tomb has been a symbol of the sacrifices made by the men and women who have served in the military.

Memorial Day A Symbol of Sacrifice!

Memorial DayThe Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, located in Arlington National Cemetery, is a monument dedicated to the service members who have died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.ย

The tomb is guarded 24 hours a day, 365 days a year by the U.S. Army 3rd Infantry Regiment, known as “The Old Guard.”ย

The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier symbolizes the sacrifice made by every service member who has given their life for their country. It reminds us that we must never forget the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

Before the 20th century

The numerous wars which have occurred over the centuries have created many MIAs. The list is long and includes most battles that any nation has ever fought.

The usual problems of identification caused by rapid decomposition were exacerbated by the fact that it was common practice to loot the remains of the dead for any valuables, e.g., personal items and clothing.

This made the already difficult task of identification even harder. The dead were routinely buried in mass graves, and scant official records were retained.

Notable examples include such medieval battles as Towton,[16] the Hundred Years’ War, The Battle of Alcรกcer Quibir where King Sebastian of Portugal disappeared, the later English Civil Wars, and Napoleonic Wars[17][18] together with any battle taking place until around the middle of the 19th century.

Starting around the time of the Crimean War, American Civil War, and Franco-Prussian War, it became more common to make formal efforts to identify individual soldiers.

However, since there was no formal system of ID tags at the time, this could be difficult during battlefield clearance.

There had been a notable shift in perceptions, e.g., where the remains of a soldier in Confederate uniform were recovered from the Gettysburg battlefield.

He would be interred in a single grave with a headstone that stated that he was an unknown Confederate soldier. This change in attitudes coincided with the Geneva Conventions, the first of which was signed in 1864.

Although the First Geneva Convention did not specifically address the issue of MIAs, the reasoning behind it (which specified the humane treatment of wounded enemy soldiers) was influential.

Little known History Factsโ€ฆ

Memorial Day

On Sept. 29, 1921, the War Department ordered the selection of an unknown soldier from those buried in France.ย

The U.S. Quartermaster Corps conducted the selection process by cooperating with the French and U.S. Navy.ย

Three weeks later, a Quartermaster Corps team excavated four bodies of (UNIDENTIFIED) Americans from each of four American cemeteries in France:ย

  1. Aisne-Maine,ย
  2. Meuse-Argonne,ย
  3. Somme,ย
  4. and St. Mihiel.ย

“Each man was examined to ensure that he was indeed an American. ”ย

For example, ย an elaborate proceeding ensured that the soldiers selected would become truly anonymous soldiers, representing all the many other unknown soldiers who had previously been lost in battle.ย

And the reason for following the process used by all of the allies, was out of respect for those lost in war.ย

Likewise, the caskets arrived by truck at the city hall of Chalons-sur-Marne on Oct. 23, 1921, and presented to the French by local honor guard.

Not onlyโ€ฆbut also, Army Sgt. Edward F. Younger of Headquarters Company, 2d Battalion, 50th Infantry, American Forces in Germany wasย given the honors of selecting the soldier ย on Oct. 26, 1921.

He walked around the caskets and then selected one.

What is more Sgt. Younger ย was seriously wounded in battle. And He received the Distinguished Service Cross for bravery.

ย

Conclusion

Memorial Day is a time to remember and honor those who have died in service to our country.ย It’s also a time for reflection on patriotism and what it means to be an American.

As we celebrate this Memorial Day, let us also remember the sacrifices made by our military families.ย Thank you… to all who have served and continue to serve our country. I’m eternally grateful for your bravery and selflessness.

Iโ€™m the Spouse of a retired Military Man and sister of three brother that served this country.

I’ve been around the military my entire life. It’s always been a part of who I am, and it’s something that I love. Even though my husband is retired now, the military is still a huge part of our lives.

HABITSโ€ฆIt’s a matter of NEGATIVE-VS- POSITIVE!

habits
Old habits will never open new doors. Quote. Quotes.

Habitsโ€ฆSimply putโ€”I’m imperfect, I have inadequacies, I’ve messed up, and I have experienced being dejected, butโ€” guess what?

In factโ€”I am CANDIDโ€”free from โ€”prejudice, malice and bias; what is moreโ€”I am sincere, honest, and very frank about the thing that truly matters in my life.

I learned that it is all about your thinking pattern; positively or negatively, all these things make you a better human being.ย

Negative habits prevent positive results!

Negative habits are like a virus that can quickly spread across your life, leaving behind only negativity.ย

The good news? You have power over this! In just 30 days, you could be free from negative influences and on the path to creating positive impacts.

Despite all of the obstacles and roadblocks that I have encountered during my lifetime…I have also learned that having preconceived negative notions doesn’t help.

Besides, a preconceived notion is an opinion formed well before without sufficient information.

Also, having a preconceived notion often involves forming an opinion in advance on any matter.

Ultimately you will alter your view of things; Preconceived notions act as hindrances, blocking our view of things. Believe it or not…

Positive habits for positive impacts!

Your self-talk is a stream of unspoken thoughts that run through your head. Some come from logic and reason, while others arise out of the misinformation you hold about yourself or life’s less pleasant situations;ย

However, there are ways to talk back into full control over what goes on in our minds – whether it’s negative thinking or worrying too much.

Self-talk is the endless stream of unspoken thoughts that run through your head; some come from logic and reason, and others arise from misconceptions.ย

Generally speaking, positive thinking doesn’t mean that you have to ignore life’s less pleasant situations.ย

It means thinking that the best will happen instead of the worst, positively and productively approaching the unpleasantness.ย

From Bad to new habits concept

How to break your negative habits

We all know that it’s important to have a positive outlook on life, but did you know that your disposition could be the difference between success and failure?ย

According to a study published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, success is more likely to follow people with a positive attitude.ย

One way to kick bad habits is to actively replace unhealthy routines with new, healthy ones.ย

Some people find they can replace a bad habit, even drug addiction, with another behavior, like exercising.

Do you want to be happy? Then you have to start forming good habits. On the other hand, if you have negative habits, it’s time to get rid of them. It’s really that simple!

It can be hard to break bad habits and replace them with good ones, but it’s worth it!ย

In other wordsโ€”positivity mattersโ€”don’t you think so?

Conclusion

ย Candid people have embraced their imperfections and see them as a part of who they are. They don’t try to hide their mistakes or pretend to be someone they’re not.ย

Because candid people are genuine and authentic, others are drawn to them. And this is what makes candid people successfulโ€”not because they’re perfect, but because they’re real.

ย Candid thoughts and emotions make us better people. We should be sincere, honest, and frank with ourselves and others because it allows for growth in relationships and strengthens our character.ย

Negative thinking patterns keep us from being our best selves, while positive thinking patterns help us grow into the people we want to be.ย

Which kind of thinker are you?

The Ghetto Life…What the World Looks Like When?

The ghetto life

The ghetto life โ€” typically poor, predominantly black neighborhoods โ€” have become microcosms of racial tensions and social injustice.

There is nearly 1.5 million Black youth in the U.S. living in areas considered “statistically high risk” for social, economic, and cultural failure.

For Black youth living in urban ghettos across the country, their experience with racism is more than just an abstract concept or a history lessonโ€”it’s their everyday reality.

ย It can be especially difficult to navigate this world as a young person of color whose experiences are often alienated by society or invalidated as unimportant.

ย Even

Sidewalk
Sidewalk

within marginalized communities, it can feel like you’re the only person who sees things differently โ€” then you’re the only one who feels so alone and misunderstood.ย

The isolation that comes with being different from your peers can be incredibly destabilizing and alienating.

The ghetto lifeโ€ฆhere’s what it looks like to be a Black youth today!

https://jusmeetwo.com/being-black-in-america/

Everyday Racism: What It Feels Like to Be Black in America

The most frustrating part about being Black in America for many Black youths is that it’s a struggle that never really ends.ย

While there’s certainly value in reflecting on racism and racial inequality history, it’s also important to acknowledge that today’s issues are alive.ย

Everyday racism is the feeling of being profiled by law enforcement, given a cynical eye from a store clerk.ย

Unfortunately, it’s always been this way, but there are more occasions where people openly ridicule or make jokes about race nowadays- especially since Donald Trump got elected president!

Everyday racism is the feeling that you’re always under surveillance, receiving a side-eye from a stranger on the subway, and being the only Black person in the elevator or the feeling that you’re always the outsider.

The Ghetto life..Discrimination Is Inescapable

Being Black in America often means that you’re being actively discriminated against.ย

And unfortunately, this discrimination often occurs in places where you’d expect it to be least tolerated;

That saidโ€ฆdiscrimination can be both explicit and implicit โ€” it can be intentional, but it can also be unintentional and subconscious.ย

Black youth experience discrimination in all of its forms. It takes many forms, including the disproportionate discipline of Black youth in schools;

The under-representation of Black people in the workforce, leadership positions, and the racial biases of teachers or other authority figures.ย

Discrimination also plays out in the form of stereotypes and harmful assumptions about Black culture.ย

the ghetto lifeโ€ฆYou’re Constantly Being Judged Based on Your Appearance

The ghetto life
Couple of hip-hop afroamerican on undergraund

Whatโ€™s more, ย blackness is often associated with being “thugged-out,” wearing gold chains, having braids or dreads, or having tattoos covering your body.ย

The insidious stigma around our Blackness often creates a certain aesthetic expectation for people to fit; and for many Black youth, these expectations can feel restrictive and judgmental.

Additionally, it can be incredibly isolating to be judged based on your appearance rather than your character โ€” but it’s important to remember that you are so much more than the way you look.ย

You are beautiful, powerful, and enough โ€” no matter what other people think.

The Ghetto Lifeโ€ฆPeople Are Afraid of You โ€” Even Strangers

Nonetheless, stereotypes associated with Black people often make white people uncomfortable and trigger an instinctual fear.ย

Which leads white people to treat Black youth like they’re dangerous or aggressive โ€” even when walking down the street.ย

This implicit bias is one of the most frustrating parts of being Black. ย Likewise..it is ย frustrating to watch people cross the street when you walk past them or to struggle to get a taxi ride home because drivers see you as a threat.ย

In spite of , how racism make white people feel afraid of you, no matter where you are… studying in the library or shopping in a store โ€ฆnon of that reflects negatively on you.

Good News Is Rare, and Bad News Is Normal โ€ฆThe Ghetto life

The fact that you are Black means that you are more likely to be poor, more likely to be incarcerated, more likely to be unemployed, and more likely to experience a lower healthcare quality.ย

These unfortunate realities can make it difficult to find good news to celebrate. And the sad fact is that when we look at the statistics, the conclusion is that things will get worse.ย

Therefore, if you’re Black and want to succeed in school, you have to fight against these statistics.ย You have to be an overachiever to meet the standard of success.ย

The Police Are Always Out to Get You

The ghetto life
Police steel handcuffs lying on dark blue jeans background

By comparisonโ€ฆbeing a Black youth in the United States means that you’re more likely to be stopped by the police, ย more likely to be arrested, and more likely to be killed by the police.ย

As such, it’s important to remember that the police aren’t your friends โ€” they’re meant to serve and protect the people of your community.

Unfortunately, the police don’t always follow protocol or treat Black people fairly, which can be incredibly frustrating.ย

And it can be especially frustrating if you’re a Black youth who has been taught to be respectful and polite to authority figures โ€” but those authority figures aren’t always respectful in return.ย

The criminalization of Black youth can be particularly harmful when unfounded suspicions lead toย stereotyping. ย ย It also can be scary to think that you could be thrown in jail for doing something as simple as โ€ฆwalking down the street.ย

For a black person , it can be difficult to prove that you’re innocent when the police are coming after you โ€” especially when they’re racially biased.

Conclusion

Being a Black youth in America is difficult, but it can also be empowering.ย

It can be empowering to know…

  • Your history and understand the strength of your ancestors.
  • ย To appreciate your culture and the experiences that make you who you are.ย
  • To find a community of people who understand what you’ve been throughย
  • And know what it feels like to be a Black youth in America.ย

Although being a Black youth in America can feel isolating, so many people go through the same thing as you. You’re not alone โ€” and hopefully, this article can help you understand that.

Why Life Is like a Box of Chocolates?

Eating chocolates
Eating chocolates

Do you remember the iconic line from Forrest Gump? “Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.”ย

Well, it turns out life is like a box of chocolates. You see, there are good chocolates, and there are bad chocolates.ย

However, what makes life so interesting and challenging at the same time is all those different flavors of chocolate (i.e., events and circumstances) all come packed in one little box.ย

This is a good indication that there’s also bound to be something not-so-great lurking right around the corner for every wonderful moment we have.ย

In other words, it’s inevitable that sooner or later, we’ll come across some nasty pieces of chocolate โ€“ i.e., something rotten or bitter to taste โ€“ as well as some very sweet ones โ€“ i.e., something so delectable we can hardly wait to gobble it up again.ย

ย Many Tribulations of life…

https://jusmeetwo.com/the-circle-of-life-a-perspective-on-things/

If there’s one thing we can be sure of about life, it will contain a mixture of good and bad. And if there’s one thing we can be sure of about a box of chocolates, it will contain a mixture of good and bad chocolates.ย

So if life is like a box of chocolates, then it follows that life is like life. The best chocolates in life are like a box of chocolates because a box of chocolates contains both the good and the bad.ย

If you want to live a happy life, you must accept that this will be the case. There is no way to avoid this truth.ย

However, if you approach your life with this acceptance, you will be less likely to let the bad things bring you down.ย

You will be able to enjoy the good things more, and you will have a greater appreciation for the things you have.

Life Is Fragrant with Possibilities!

Life carries the potential for both good and bad things to happen.ย

There is no way to avoid this. However, there is a way to increase the likelihood that good things will happen to you.ย

In like matter…It would help if you approached life with positivity to see the potential for good in everything.ย

You will bring greater joy, satisfaction, and adventure into your life…and experience more of the good that life offers.

There Are No Mistakes, Only Lessons!

The past is just a story, and if you dwell on the negative aspects, then the future will be one big sorry mess.ย

So stop feeling bad about yourself or what happened in general; see, it was supposed to happen anyway because every moment spent dwelling leads you further down the path without any lessons learned.

Meanwhile, more wasted precious opportunities are being mired deep inside regretful memories and never getting official stamps as “good.”

When you let go of the past, it guides your future.ย

We all make mistakes, and there’s always a way to learn from them if we take advantage of this gift called life.

Life Is About the Struggle: Good vs. Bad, Light vs. Dark!

Life is a journey, not just one step forward but an eternal struggle to do better than before.ย

There are so many struggles in life: the challenge of balancing work and family obligations; managing time spent alone or with others depending on our moods…ย

These drawbacks make every day new – because we’re always striving for progress while trying not to lose sight of what makes us human- kinder words, more generous actions towards other people even if they aren’t returned similar treatment at you!

The Darkest Times Can Produce Your Brightest Lessons!

Do you find yourself in the worst times of your life?

The periods when everything seems to be going wrong can also provide insight and growth.ย

The worst times of your life can also be some of the most rewarding.ย

They provide an opportunity for self-reflection and growth that we may not experience otherwise;

They offer a fuller picture of who you are than what’s on display day in and out at work or home with family members.

They’re where we discover who our true friends are, what matters most about success for us as individuals – or maybe even something new that changes how we approach everyday tasks like getting dressed!

The Bitter Truth About Sweetness: Nothing Is Truly Good or Bad Unless You Make It So!

You have the power to…

  • Make your life as sweet or as bitter as you choose.ย
  • transform unhappiness into happiness,ย
  • ignorance into wisdom,ย
  • struggles into strengths,ย
  • pain into joy,ย
  • mistakes into gifts,ย
  • weaknesses into strengths.ย
  • Your failures into successesย

There’s Always Something to Be Grateful For!

Life throws us challenges.ย

When you’re faced with the greatest of difficulties and trials, when things seem their bleakest;ย

Remember to be grateful for everything that has happened in your life because there will always come a tomorrow no matter how bad today was!ย

One thing I learned was not to dwell on yesterday – it’s gone forever, so why waste time thinking about what could’ve been or should happen?ย

Instead, focus all attention forward towards new opportunities waiting out ahead…ย

Conclusion

ย The moral of the story is that you can never predict what life will throw your way. Sometimes things work out in the most amazing ways, and sometimes they don’t.ย

The quote, “Life is like a box of chocolates,” neatly summarizes the idea that many things are to enjoy in life.

ย However, it can also be painful and frustrating when we experience bad moments or events as they come along with their unique challenges!ย

But don’t worry because even though every day brings new obstacles on our journey through this crazy mixed bag called ‘life,’ at some point, everything will balance out!

But no matter what happens, you’ll always learn something from it. So whatever life throws your way, remember to enjoy the ride!ย
