Subsequently, protests against racism and police brutality prompted by the killing of George Floyd reignited the debate around statues and other monuments honoring the Confederacy and slave-holding presidents, such as George Washington and Andrew Jackson.
Then his own administration’s position in court is that the 2010 Affordable Care Act’s individual mandate is unconstitutional, and therefore so is the entire law — even its most popular provisions, such as coverage for those with preexisting conditions.
This is a crazy decision to get rid of a policy at the worst possible time in the midst of a pandemic. “The Affordable Care Act provides coverage to millions of people, yet this Administration doesn’t give a dam. “Don’t be fooled.”

Responding to the court filing late Thursday, Pelosi said Trump and Republicans’ “campaign to rip away the protections and benefits of the Affordable Care Act in the middle of the coronavirus crisis is an act of unfathomable cruelty.”

Finally, this President is cares more about protecting status that represents a great injustice to people that were held in bondage, abused and murdered by people who viewed them as a piece of furniture, or an animal.

I am appalled.

My great great grandfather was listed in the will of his master, along with his furniture, animals and other properties. The will listed his value as $600.00 dollars. Those statues represent PAIN.
Finally, the Affordable Care Act—is an important and how can it be unconstitutional? It’s a matter of WHO the law is hurting. Hell it surely is not those people in need of it.
It’s unconstitutional, when it comes to the rich.

Closed Doors Of the Past

In the words of Helen, Keller…when doors close in our face, another opens. However, most often, we never see that open door, because our focus is solely on that door that was closed.

As a result, we lose out on new opportunities because we are so attached to things of the past, something we are familiar with. So much so, neWhen one door closes, another opens.Read

Although, doors may close, there are always other, the unlimited number of entries – new opportunities. The world is full of possibilities if we could only see them.
Unfortunately, not every plan works out. Sometimes, there are losses and failures. We don’t always have control over events, but we can exercise control over our minds and attitude

.
If we could only move our attention away from the closed door, we might discover new, open doors.
If you find it hard to stop the stream of negative thoughts, your mind will continue to focus on the loss, failure, and frustration – on the door that has closed. For the most part, I have learned this lesson the hard way.

You have to free yourself from past attachments and see the new opportunities?
Once you have seen the truth, you must make the decision to let go of the pain, anger, and resentment you have been holding on to.

US Military Nurse and Soldier in Hitler Army

Military Nurse–In searching for real-life stories to write about, I came across this real and profoundly moving story of forbidden love during World War II and the shocking, hidden history of race on the home front.

“Elinor Powell was an African American nurse in the U.S. military during World War II; Frederick Albert was a soldier in Hitler’s Army, captured by the Allies, and shipped to a prisoner-of-war camp “in Arizona. 1

What’s  more, with a large number of American men away in battle, under the Geneva Convention, the P.O.W. detainees of war could work.

As a result, Frederick Albert worked in the kitchen at the camp in Arizona, meanwhile,  Elinor Elizabeth Powell was an African-American military nurse.
Later, their paths would cross in Arizona in 1944.
After completing training at Fort Huachuca, Ariz., she was sent, along with other black military nurses to care for the German detainees of war in Florence, Arizona.

The words of the son

According to her son, they met,” when his father was working in the kitchen, he made advances toward his mother and stated: ‘You should know my name. I’m the man who will marry you.’

They were very mindful there was a significant segregation issue and that the Americans weren’t generally permitted to involved.

The End of the War

By war’s end, all German P.O.W.’s, including Frederick Albert, was sent to Germany.
Frederick returned to the United States, he and Elinor wedded on June 26, 1947, in Manhattan. They faced racism and had a difficult time finding work and a place to live.
So they moved to Boston and did find a few jobs. But eventually, he decided to move back to Gottingen, Germany, where his family lived.
Where he could work for his dad’s concrete business.
However, Germany was troublesome. His family members never had contact with people of color, which made it difficult and awkward for Elinor.
In under two years, Frederick, Elinor, Stephen, and Chris, who was a newborn child, returned to the United States.
Settling in Morton, Pa. Where they experienced the school racial issues.

There Is No Doubt About It..What Now?

There is no doubt about it–the death of George Floyd, has prompted protests across the country and in other countries.  It is disturbing to think about how many people of color have lost their lives due to police brutality and misconduct.
Unfortunately, racism and brutality within the criminal justice system extend far beyond going back decades.
Despite our self-identification as a country, African American is harshly incarcerated — disproportionately and receives stiffer sentences.
Racism is still relevant today and is a serious problem; and can no longer be ignored, covered up, and denied.
It was mind-blowing to watch George Floyd dying right before our eyes. He died needlessly, just to bring awareness to the issue of racism. And open the eyes of people worldwide.
No doubt…There is always HOPE that things will change.

A Shooting in Akron, Ohio

Nakia Crawford, an 18-year-old who was a recent high school grad, running errands with her grandmother, was shot in Akron, Ohio, while she was stopped at a red light.
She was shot multiple times inside of the car. Unfortunately, she died later at the hospital.
Meanwhile, the suspect in the shooting has yet to be identified. Still, police are following reports that he was a white male driving a black Mustang with tinted windows.
Akron Mayor Dan Horrigan said in a statement, “Na’kia Crawford was a young woman who deserved life and a future.”
For the most part, I fail to understand how any sane person could pull up next to a car and think nothing about shooting the person in the vehicle.
The problem is, though, this person wasn’t reasonable. Nor was he insane…just somebody that wanted to do an evil deed.
So he committed murder. He terminated the life of another person unlawfully. The question is, why?
Some murder for money. Some killers who are mentally sick band their act of shooting is the result of their psychological problems; some murderers commit this crime in a fit of passion.
Whatever that fool’s purpose was for intentionally taking the life of Nakia Crawford, I hope that he is found, that the punishment fits the crime he committed.
What is need more than ever is gun control, which restricts the kinds of guns that can be available for sale to the public?
Who should be allowed to buy them? Where can they be carried? When is it legal to shoot one?
